- .. it looks like a Glenfar.... ?!?
- The Xaver Bar Choice No. 5, the little piggy ???? with 44.9% cask strength and a full 20 years.
Slightly dried fruit on the nose, hazelnut, unexpectedly a maritime dryness that is often found in smoky Islays (slightly salty), but after a while in the glass it turns into beautifully dry and soft sherry notes (Oloroso?) and correspondingly old oak, very intense Caramel (soft/liquid caramel),...
In the mouth then very balanced and round. Hints of coconut, a sweet note that cannot be defined (by me) in more detail, followed by beautiful old wood. He delivers in the mouth what he promises in the nose.
The aftertaste is then the real surprise... One might think 44.9% is already very little. Far from it... He has a great and super pleasant warmth that is really surprising for this alcohol content. He would not have needed more and the alcohol is absolutely optimally integrated. I would describe the aftertaste as at least medium long, if not with a tendency to long.
Complexity and aftertaste absolutely do justice to the specified 20 years. And for the price...
