Quite a simple no nonsense whisky, not proclaiming to be anything it isn't and honest in its simplicity.
    • Nose
Neat  - Alcohol and over ripe bananas

With a few drops of water - the Alcohol has subdued, bananas and a trace of figs, becoming more mellow with a faint forest pine aroma

Overall - simplistic and suits a few drops of water to calm the alcohol and release what is masked by it
    • Taste
Neat - Alcohol slightly overwhelming, the Banana aroma is there with a slight hint of wood and a light touch of burnt toffee

With drops of water - really smooth's out with a body like liquid gold. the banana intensity is reduced and there is a sweetness to the wood elements  ( like a lollipop stick )
    • Finish
taken neat the finish is pleasant and mellow but uncomplicated, with a few drops of water it really releases the underlying flavours

A nice soft whisky with a very good price / performance ratio. Unfortunately, the departure is a bit too short.
    • Nose
Fruity, floral with a hint of caramel.
    • Taste
Very round and soft with chocolate and caramel taste.
    • Finish
      Relatively short.

    e150 - 72/100
    • Nose
      Fruity,
citric, unripe pears, sherry, solvents, acetone, slight alcohol, not exactly
      pleasing, a stinging sensation.
    • Taste
      Good
malty taste behind the slightly overpowering alcohol, pears, walnuts, some
toffee, it’s not giving me much, thin to medium body.
    • Finish
      Okay
finish, oranges, tangerines and pears, really fruity, clean malt feel as well.

Particularly good in view of the price they ask. If you'll happen to encounter this malt for less than 30 euros, I think it is excellent value for money. At least, I would buy it without delay.
    • Nose
Sour-sweet marinated apples/sauerkraut, moist grass, ozone (clean bracing air), humidity before a storm, water meadow, cereal grain/barley malt. In 15 minutes or so, it changes dramtically. Only obscure sucrose-, sweetened popcorn- and plum jelly notes remain.
    • Taste
Very soft, rounded, silky mouthfeel; you've got some pickle first, appley sweetness follows, oakiness/oak barrel, nutmeg, cumin, dried cranberries, smidgin of honey, dark-brown caramel bitter edge, bittersweet, liquorish, sweet marjoram, a tad earthy, flaxseed.
    • Finish
Of medium to short duration, harsh to some extent, but not overly spiced; lemon grass, dairy (curd cheese?), baking soda, salt, mineral/chalky dryness, a little nutty, crunchy corn chips dipped in soya sauce.

There are a few 10-year-old whiskys which offers more!
    • Nose
Bit malty and quite sweet, vanilla, fresh oranges and some citrus notes, Granny Smith Apples, maybe hints of tropical fruits like pineapples and peaches. The nose is quite pleasant. Memories of Ardbeg TEN, but without Peat. Don't ask me how i come to this!
    • Taste
Clean, clear and a bit fresh. Some vanilla, caramel and hay. Spices from the oak.
    • Finish
Short and malty, not really pleasant. Somehow strange!

The mouthfeel (body) of the Glengoyne 10 is rather thin, but a cream-like texture on the palate ensures that the whisky stays together and doesn't fall apart into utter wateriness like some young whiskies at 40% ABV unfortunately do. All in all a decent malt with a decent price.
    • Nose
Green apples, toffee, dried red fruits in the background, faint vanilla and cream, freshly cut summer grass, mild oak spices, cereal, a nectar-like nuance of malt, sweet liquorice, a touch of fresh unburned peat, very faint sherry tones and mild nutty aromas that blend seamlessly with the smell of younger oak wood.
    • Taste

Cream, a "rounded" taste of younger oak wood, fresh unburned peat, toffee, just a touch of red dried fruits adding some acidity to the palate, flower-like nectar and sweet liquorice.
    • Finish
Medium long. Faint vanilla, oak and mild nuttiness, fresh unburned peat, cream towards the end and a hint of red dried fruits at the very end.

  21. granella2003 scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    Colour: medium golden tones, clear
Nose: rich malt flavor with oak and apple
Tongue: soft and delicate with oak, apple and a hint of vanilla
    Finish: long, soft, fruity aftertaste

  22. granella2003 scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Sweet aromas of toffee with hints of nuts and fresh green apples with a hint of sherry
    • Taste
Warm, clean taste of green apples, grass, linseed oil and almonds with hints of sweet licorice and vanilla
    • Finish
      Delicious sweet and malty aftertaste

  23. Willie JJ scored this whisky 77 points Expert Senior

Not very well balanced, but some nice things going on.
    • Nose
Thick gristy malt and rhubarb crumble. Strawberry jam and a dusting of custard powder.
    • Taste
Jammy notes are there, but its a bit thin on the palate and needs a few mouthfuls to get it going properly.
    • Finish
Still plenty of fruit preserve, but its quickly overtaken by a peppery spiciness that interplays with sugared water.

Nice introduction to Glengoyne range, but too sweet and too light
    • Nose
A fresh but very soft, warm fruitiness, with rich malty dryness, very light sherry, and a touch of juicy oak
    • Taste
Clean, grassy, fruity, with more apple notes, tasty, very pleasant
    • Finish
Still sweet, but drying slightly, clean, appetizing

  26. drkrylov scored this whisky 74 points Connoisseur

Unlike most other single malts Glengoyne has been
preserving the essence of its flavour for decades by using air-dried barley
rather than barley dried using harsh peat smoke. The result is a more subtle,
complex whisky in which all of the delicate flavours are freely allowed to
    express themselves.www.glengoyne.com

A whisky best to be enjoyed in spring.
    • Nose
Pleasant nose. Vanilla and summer fruits.
    • Taste
Sweet. Strong bourbon taste. Fruity accents. Very smooth.
    • Finish
      Moderately long. More fruits.
