Another great 15-year-old Readbreast (2021). Even more berries compared to older versions (pre 2019).
    Concerning price/performance ratio: 9/10
    • Nose
Sweet fruity sherry. Berries (gooseberry, blackberry most of the time), ripe apples, some caramel, raisins, roasted almonds.
    • Taste
Sweet fruity sherry again. Berries cooked and stewed. Some leather way in the back.
    • Finish
Medium. Red and dark fruit gums. Some vegetables in the back.

Redbreast 15 years, 46% alc. Original bottling (2021). Ageing: Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks

Nose: Spicy blackberry jam in oatmeal, pleasant sweetness. I also find pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup candied apples and a hint of tropical fruit. Oak wood aromas remain discreet and warming in the background.

Palate: Here, too, blackberry jam and cereal aromas, but also significantly more spiciness than on the nose. Sugar beet, maple syrup, caramel and milk chocolate, I taste slightly burnt plum cake and cinnamon, there is also a pinch of colored pepper and cloves.

Finish: Long, blood oranges and blackberries, gooseberries, almonds and then lots of oak.

Conclusion: The tannins of the oak barrels come into their own with this Redbreast, the leap from the 12-year-old is enormous. A really nice whiskey. 87/100 points

There is not much more to say about the Redbreast 15yo. Always a real benchmark when it comes to SPS, no matter in which direction the fruit notes tend.

Hm, wild berries, blueberries, raisins, dried dates and apricots, fresh figs - all garnished with a whole spice rack, from which marjoram, rosemary, allspice, chervil, cumin and cinnamon stand out. A hint of tropical fruit reminiscent of a recent batch of 15yo where these fruity notes were very dominant. As tasty as it was, the mixture of wild berries and spices couldn't be topped with it. However, what this one has in common with its predecessor: with every further sniff, it pulls out a further register of aromas and now quite clearly lets nougat chocolate and marzipan flow into the nose. And it doesn't stop...

Creamy and waxy at first, it doesn't hold back for long, instead delivering raisins, dried blackberries, blueberry jam, blackcurrants and grapes. The pot still spices from the nose also rage on the tongue, primarily chervil, marjoram and clove powder. Block malt, nougat, caramel, milk coffee.
    • Finish
      89 89
Takes his time, has lost his calm and seems to have nothing else to do. A bum, at least on the tongue. A mixture of spices and berries, milk chocolate, cocoa, milk coffee.

Did you know that this 15 year old Redbreast is colored as is the 12 year old at 40% and even the 21 year old too? Here is the link to the distillery's website with the information that you won't find on the bottles (https://www.redbreastwhiskey.com/en-EN/nutritional-information), although this should be declared in Germany. I don't need any coloring in the whiskey and will stick with the Redbreast 12 Cask Strength in the future!
