  1. Numwierum scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Smell: Sweet, caramelized apple, vanilla, ripe pineapple, cotton candy, subtle cinnamon, the alcohol is quite well integrated, light and dry wood aromas.
Taste: It also starts out quite sweet in the mouth, caramel is immediately there again, light grapes, the alcohol is much more intense here, a bit peppery but still nice and creamy, tart herbs, nut aromas come, nougat.
Finish: Medium length, coconut, subtle liquorice and wood spice.
Conclusion: A successful bourbon cask bottling! The alcohol is a little too strong in the mouth, but that can easily be remedied by adding a little water.

The Rather Unique - a single cask bottled by Glencadam exclusively for Kirsch Import. The bottling with strong 64.9% vol. comes from a 1st fill bourbon barrel, the color of this whisky shimmers correspondingly beautiful and golden.
    • Nose
On the nose, powdered sugar is initially present, the whisky is sweet, then comes vanilla, sweet vanilla with caramel. There is also a fruity note, now the aroma is reminiscent of foam waffles with pink and white sugar foam filling with vanilla and artificial strawberry aroma. The smell of the alcohol is not noticeable.
    • Taste
In the mouth, however, the alcohol becomes correspondingly sharp, the whisky definitely has to be diluted, which is normal with this strength. With water, the aromas can better assert themselves against the alcohol, the whisky becomes creamy with nutty nougat notes, foam strawberries and caramel, grain and malt. The alcohol stays a little stingy, perhaps the whisky would have done better if it had been cask filled with more dilution. Fruit aromas from the wine gum develop in the cheek pockets.
    • Finish
The slightly too strong alcohol, which is difficult to adjust with water, also lingers in the aftertaste. The fruit notes shine through, but cannot develop sufficiently.

The whisky has nice roots, it flows over the tongue with an oily viscosity, but then quickly becomes bitingly alcoholic. This alcohol settles in the mouth and the flavors have a hard time asserting themselves. That's a shame, because they flash through again and again, but remain an unfulfilled promise. If after 10 years it is still almost 65% vol. Alcohol is present, it should have been bottled with a significantly higher strength. A little less initial strength might have resulted in a result where the alcohol is less prominent than it is here.

All in all, the whisky is definitely tastier than the previously tasted bottlings from the core range. If the nougat notes came out more clearly and the whisky developed a warmer fruitiness, I could give more points.

Beautiful bourbon barrel whisky. Definitely need water. Tropical fruit almonds and cake on the nose. Little hints of fennel and herbs. Sweet and lingering on the tounge.
    Delicious dram
You can tell the quality of the cask
