Truly a whisky for a nice winter evening in front of the fireplace. But also a malt for which you have to take your time. Very exciting with the Woodsmoked approach, but for my taste it could have a little more fruit flavors and be more palatable.
    • Nose
      85 85
Very spicy and also a bit alcoholic nose with a certain polish note in the beginning. If you give the whisky a long time in the glass, dark caramel and fruit notes appear. The nose becomes more harmonious with water, but remains spicy and dark.
    • Taste
      87 87
The malt also has a lot of power in the taste. In addition to the spice, the leather and tobacco notes, there is also a dark fruit note with a good sweetness. The barrel strength is well integrated. Strangely enough, I find adding water to the taste rather inharmonious.
    • Finish
      86 86
The finish is very long and continues the dark, spicy leather and tobacco notes with a caramel sweetness.

Typically ''Elsburn'', a massively charged, young distillate is presented here due to the heavy influence of the barrel. At certain moments I can get something out of this distillery orientation, but mostly it's just too sweet and over the top for me. If I want to drink a sweet dessert, I can certainly imagine a glass of it, but a whole month's ration of the same dessert would somehow be too boring for me.
    • Nose
At first I'm full of plums and blueberries as well as a few blackberries, then such a sterile-looking alcohol note shows up and releases the fruit aromas from the nasal mucosa, letting it sit a bit is the order of the day, dark chocolate cake with black cherries, dates, a few dried figs, a small appeal on a brittle rubber band resonates, drop by drop of balsamic vinegar in prune juice, a deeper sniff reveals a certain sharpness, explosive in the nose
    • Taste
Massive sugariness paired with a recognizable sharpness of the distillate of youth, a tart metallic note resonates, the alcohol presses on prunes and lets the last splashes of juice escape, dried fruit mix of figs and sour cherries, a ''Ricola'' herbal candy and breast caramels let the herbal side free , powerful oak aromas accumulate, dark chocolate with dates and raisins, some cinnamon, the ever-present sweetness has something of molasses and golden beet syrup, a few drops of balsamic vinegar for a bit of acidity
    • Finish
The sticky sweetness lingers in the mouth very persistently compared to the otherwise not very long finish, brown sugar, molasses, caramelized walnuts, a herbal liqueur note reminiscent of ''Ramazotti'' introduces the end, some vanilla, cinnamon and allspice fade away on a robust Oak board with rotten texture

    • Nose
      Colour:
      Orange - gold

      Nose:
Starts off set with leather and juicy figs. Rum raisins and some brown sugar. Moist pipe tobacco with cherry aroma, wet wood, nougat and a bit of walnut.
With a little time in the glass, the story goes more in the dried fruit direction. In addition rust, prunes and cake spices. Encased in a wonderful oiliness.
    • Taste
Spicy, oily start. Yep, he has power. Again, a rum-like sweetness immediately. Cherries, brown sugar and spicy cinnamon. Like Big Red chewing gum.
Significantly bitter on the second sip. More herbs and dark dried fruit. Sour blackberries join in. The leather appears harsher and the tobacco drier. Fermented mango still cheats.
    • Finish
Long. Sweet with a pleasant spiciness. Still pretty oily though.

Very interesting and unpredictable whisky. Powerful aroma. Something like 'Whisky Druid' (saturation, wine, honey), something like HP (steppe grasses, soft woodiness).

Yes, this is a real Christmas whisky.
The alcohol stings a bit in the nose.
Then gingerbread and cinnamon stars make their presence felt.

The nose is straight without nuances, the body is liquid, the finish is simply a failure, and no one will convince me otherwise, do not look for something that is not in it.

Let breathe for almost 20 minutes and the fun can begin. Very sweet thanks to the Moscatel and Pedro Ximènez grapes and the Marsala sweet wine. The port gives the whole thing a certain depth, heaviness. The typical Glenels / Elsburn character comes into its own. Light beech smoke that is very well integrated. Alcohol was very present in the first nose, but hardly noticeable after a good 20-30 minutes. It definitely needs some time, warmth and oxygen. Suitable for the cold season and for people who drink a delicious, uncomplicated malt without rough edges. Considering the price, perfectly fine. The thing is Made in Germany.

    Am thrilled! 88/100

Mannerism, for the sense of smell and taste. The first thing that comes to mind is Fat angels next to oak wood and sweetness in all variations!
Wonderfully creamy and overloaded. Popcorn. Bisle Bourbon like ...
Excellent material from 1000 and one night fragrances. Powerpowerpower!
Tomorrow I'll make a whisky sour of it and hope it only tastes half as good as I imagine it to be.
At the moment a fat 90 points

    Addendum 24 hours later
Whisky sour just tastes good with bourbon
But the Elsburn is still just convincing on its own
