The bottle has now been open for a long time and is 1/2 empty. The content could now breathe sufficiently.
    • Nose
      86 86
      Fruity, sweet, clearly sherry
      Sultanas, cinnamon, cloves, plum,
(overall heavily fruity mixed with Christmas spices)
    • Taste
      87 87
      Soft nutty (walnut)
      gets oily very quickly
first step: light ginger spiciness, sherry
      slight bitter substances are noticeable
      mixes with nuttiness
Cinnamon, clove, cocoa, typical sherry flavors
    • Finish
      86 86
      medium length.
Bitter substances, sherry mixed with cocoa

Today the last 15 cl were tasted
(2x 2 cl and the rest decanted into a sample bottle)
    • Nose
      93 93
      First impression: Maggi, fruity, berry
Fruits: dark berries, plums, sultanas, dates
      Sweet, Moscovado Sugar, Spices (Gingerbread).
Over time I suspect some wood.

The Montilla Fino Cask is dominant, the distillery character is completely lost.
      Conclusion: pure snooper
    • Taste
      93 93
Immediately heavy, oily, sweet - it also tingles on the tongue (peppery, ginger spiciness - but very pleasant)
oh man, it's great in the mouth.
Spices, cocoa/dark chocolate, followed by bitter substances (wood, grapefruit - I can't decide).
Dates, sultanas and spices play with berries, vanilla, honey and Christmas spices in the mouth.
      Nuttiness is there too.
Wow, it has increased over time (oxidation) and has continued to improve.
      Conclusion: Awesome!
    • Finish
      90 90
Bitter substances stay in the mouth - but not for very long
Sherry, dark chocolate are retained for a medium-long time

    and slightly disappointing oban

  5. Sonett scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Very, very much better than the more recent Oban DE's
    • Nose
Raisins, Dried Apricots, Sandalwood, Light Madeira, a very light touch of charcoal smoke
    • Taste
Sweet and warm spices mixed with sherry tones of dates and figs
    • Finish
No surprises, the taste just continues and fades out in a medium long finale

  6. Furtia scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      83 83
    • Taste
      81 81
    • Finish
      80 80
