Smell: Caramel, cool mint, candied apples, intense alcohol, dry wood.
Taste: Strong attack, pepper and some ginger, toffee, nuts and herbs, dark chocolate.
Finish: Long, warm, subtle tobacco, more nuts and spicy wood.
Conclusion: It's not quite round, for example the alcohol seems poorly integrated, but these are only small flaws and complain at a high level.

    Bomberger's Declaration 2021 Release KSBW 54%.

30ml sample at home, July 2022.

    Dark amber.

Aroma huge caramel, toffee apple, toffee covered mango, hint of orange peel, some spiky gluey spirit but it’s in the background - it’s mostly gooey toffee stuff. Dried apple. Becomes more boozy, resinous, hotter over time, plasticky.

Body is thin, has an ethanol dryness.

Taste is spicy and boozy but then the caramel kicks in, has an effervescent heat that I usually get from whiskies over 60%, a resinous chilli-like impression. Drinks too hot and resinous. That chilli keeps building. Ok stuff on the whole. 3.45/82

I anticipated that a drop of water would really help this, so I added a little splash, but I’m not sure it helped lots. The aroma loses some of its deep caramel, becomes more cherry and orange. Body becomes more rounded. Taste becomes more orange, more peppery notes, still boozy but far more drinkable with water. Not a ‘better’ experience with water though.
