It doesn't hurt that I'm compared to Talisker, as I'm very fond of Talisker. The whisky is really delicious. I don't care how old he is. Is it worth 85 euros? Hard to say. That depends on my income. Currently no. In relation to what is offered, is it worth 85 euros? Yes. Absolutely. If you are willing to invest not only money but also water and time. If you're looking for something quick and easily accessible, you won't find it here. 89/100 points.
    • Nose
Associations with Talisker, Bruichladdich and Kilkerran come up. Aromatic, herbaceous smoke with a good dose of toffee, vanilla, cookie dough... creamy right on the nose, especially with water. The 1st fill chinkapin oak and 1st fill oloroso cask maturation is noticeable with rich, sweet, strong and spicy aromas. The virgin oak maturation seems to gain the upper hand, you don't notice much of a sherry cask here. The sherry influence probably prevents the tropical fruits that are otherwise to be expected here and rather provides a slightly dirty peach yoghurt feeling. If you unravel this note, it probably consists of gentle smoke, herbs, juicy raisins, apricots and vanilla/toffee. Salted Chocolate. Raisins and dried fruit also make an appearance later. There is a lot to discover here.
    • Taste
powerful attack, immediately sweet and spicy. In the mouth like a talisker. Maritime smoke and dirty vanilla and toffee notes. Salt, pepper, smoked dried bacon. Light citrus notes, orange and lemon peel come later. With water, the whisky is pleasantly medicinal, with a decent citrus note, mineral.
    • Finish
Smoke and salt, residual sweetness. Light smoky aromas. Slightly medicinal too, a humid medicinal smoke with a bit of iodine which I like very much.
