    Absolutely spot on, the Black Art 9.1 by Bruichladdich weaves together a multitude of flavours and aromas.
    • Nose
      Heaps of red apple peel, but also tinned peaches and apricots with some whiffs of pineapple. There's some notes of strawberries and cassis too, followed by cinnamon, chocolate malt and tobacco. Delicate and delightful.
    • Taste
      It has a pleasant viscosity with a nice malty character supporting a myriad of darker flavours, such as sandalwood, burnt caramel and coffee grounds, but there's also coconut shavings and some mint.
    • Finish
      Lingering notes of mocha, mush bananas, honey and toasted bread.

    The complexity remains the same, the suppleness remains the same, the mystery remains the same
    • Nose
      88 88
      Smell: lemon, ripe apple, caramel cake, black tea, roasted pineapple, woody notes, honey, cinnamon, very pleasant aroma;
    • Taste
      91 91
      Entrance: rich tropical fruits, nuts, oily texture, like creamy chocolate texture, with a touch of tannin, but there is no discomfort, the latter part will turn into a softer texture;
    • Finish
      91 91
      Ending rhyme: aroma of dried fruit and roast beef, passion fruit, kiwi, mint, spices.

    86-90 – Wow, really good one, need a bottle
    • Nose
      90 90
      Light fruits surprising for the age and color, apricot, quince, fresh apple, mirabelle plum. However, very round and seductive. Some almond.
    • Taste
      93 93
      Gets creamy after a while and just wow. The rather low alcohol content fits quite well.
    • Finish
      88 88
      Long finish, fruity, honey. However, somehow something is missing. A little too "empty" for a higher rating.

  7. SeWuWhisky scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    Nose: herbs, oak, sweet and fruity, vanilla in the background. Exciting complex nose with apple pie, cranberries and some chocolate.
    Mouthfeel: unfortunately a bit astringent, otherwise relatively mild and dry
    Taste: Relatively woody, dark chocolate, light sweetness and some peach, spices. Unfortunately, the astringency stays a little longer. Too much barrel and tannins for me.
    Finish: slightly bitter, dark chocolate, coffee, oak and spice.
    Compared to 04.1, 05.1 or 07.1, the whisky unfortunately lags far behind. A PITY
