This is my first Ardbeg (finally) and I'm wild.
Much more aggressive then I expected: this is a wild dram, sweet, solventy with bonfire and salt. Leather, sausage, gravy, strong, very strong. Explosion in your mouth that numbs the tongue and dries out the throat. In my opinion the nose is the best: so sweet and complex. Taste is good, so good. Medium long finish. Dies out slowly.
Bought a bottle. Halfway through now... I opened the bottle about 4 months ago. The dram seems to evolve, oxidize, the sharp edges stay but are being smoothed out. Less agression and more sweets... Very curious how this will evolve :-)
Smoke, seaweed, salt, wet ropes, plums, raisins and warm apple-mousse. Leather. Hint of nutmeg. Very strong, very smoky, almost aggressive. Hidden fruits. Not bad :-)
Oily. Stony in the mouth, strong, aggressive, bonfire and a lot of sweets. Peppery. You can taste the alcohol. Some solvents, gasses... Meaty, salty, sausage, peat. Hints of salted caramel. Hint of camomile at the back. Very, very good, but what a bomb!
Finish is rope-like. Numbs the tongue. Sweet-cotton-like. Dry. Smoke comes back through the nose. Medium-long!
