So the nose is scary, in the mouth it is quite interesting and I like the finish. The smoke is so minimal that it does not actually exist. Notes from a blind tasting. Okay, so much for the daytime form. Last time I found the nose interesting, this time scary. Well...
    • Nose
Very idiosyncratic, grainy, Grain with Edradour, glue, Custard Cream or something and garlic. Let something stand ... Still slanted, first this sour note, cucumbers, vegetables, then vanillig buttery, somehow does not fit together. Heat harmonizes it a bit, but the vegetables remain. Very buttery now, a touch of soap. Once he has passed his throat, his nose is getting better too, and here too are apples. Less acidity, overall much more harmonious.
    • Taste
In the mouth much less oblique, very sweet, a lot of honey, caramel and in the background fermented apples, to the back he is clearly tart. The onset is quite powerful, slightly alcoholic hot, but the mouthfeel very dense and oily.
    • Finish
The finish is not even so short, the sweetness is slow and Apfelgriepsche with an idea ash prove for quite a long time the tongue.

If anyone wants to try a salty almond toffee whisky this is it.

Bad he is not, well not. The alcohol is too aggressive, but the nose and finish are quite interesting.
    • Nose
In the nose, it reminds of a middle-aged bourbon. Glue, caramel, nuts and toasted flavors. Sherry influence can be guessed at most.
    • Taste
Something racy in the start, even for 60% a bit impetuous. Tastefully harmonious without leaving a special impression.
    • Finish
      Cool, sweet and fruity. Medium.

  4. larswehmeier scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Unusual bottling with a rather rare combination of high age and at the same time very high barrel strength.
    • Nose
At first impression very sweet, even a little perfumed. Over time, it settles and there are more aromas. I discover burnt caramel and a slight mustiness that is not uncomfortable.
    • Taste
Strong start on the tongue. Again, sugar-sweet, almost syrupy. Over time, the oak moves forward. Leather polish. Becomes drier.
    • Finish
Long, spicy finish. It even gets a bit bitter.

  5. Gregers scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

    • Nose
      84 84
Hay, toffee, acetone, citrus, hints of leather and candy cane
    • Taste
      86 86
Peat smoke and muscovado sugar, barley, then oaky drier notes come through. Nice balance, but tobacco becomes a bit dominating after some chewing.
    • Finish
      85 85
Long and warm, and better balance returns. Medicinal notes on the afterthought.
