A blend from the days long gone ( I presume). I would no easily poor myself a dram of today's blends like Famous Grouse (unless there is Pepsi close by. I expect it will not reach the 75 points.

Give this Glen Adam blend some time in the glass and you will be rewarded

Initially quite an alcoholic nose, which sounds strange to me at 40% abv. But after 30-45 minutes, after warming the glass in the hand, the blends starts to open up and gets quite nice. A dusty, musty and somewhat earthy smell. Little sweetness as well. Different from today's standard blends.

Bid oily and waxy. Quite warm mouth feeling, and unexpected full body.

Not too long (just below medium long). Warm mouth feeling again till the end. In the far end a bit watery.

p.s.: no Pepsi required. Very well drinkable. I have tasted single malts which were far worse.

Old blends are always fun to try. Most of the time not even bad at all and you get to taste that nice old style of whisky again. Looking at the tears in the glass, knowing it is just 40% abv, I would say this is very lightly filtered, if it is even filtered at all..
    • Nose
This is young and malty but, I guess due to the low abv, not even that sharp on the nose. I get sweet notes of apple pie, lemon and dried spices like ginger and herbal tea. Also there is fresh oak. The nose is not bad at all, not very complex either but it’s only 5 years old.
    • Taste
Tastewise it is sweet, watery and slightly oily. It’s sweet and fresh, mild herbal influences as well als sweet fruits like some apple but mainly pear. Also there is a more bitter/sour note to it that I refer to as lemon. Despite of it’s young age and low abv this has a surprisingly good body! It’s friendly and accessible all the way.
    • Finish
Medium length. In the finish it reminds me of those yellow ‘Napoleon’ candy balls. Sweet and bittersour. Again quite some lemon and pear as well. Also a hint of dry oak that pulls it a wee bit tart at the very end.

This dram is surprisingly pleasant all the way. I wouldn’t have expected such a decent body out of a 5yo whisky.

A long gone blend. Nose is quite good. Overall this will beat down all modern blends.
No flaws or harshness, just a young blend.

Some hardy notes, apple cake and some other orchard fruits. There is a little bit of glue in the background.
    • Taste

Easy arrival. Little oily, not much in here. Some sweetness and some fruitiness apple most of it.
    • Finish
      79 79
Short length. Caramel, sweet and vanilla icecream.

It’s always fun to try something from days long gone. This Glen Adam isn’t a highflying whisky, but still it would sweep the floor with nowadays blends. Despite its abv it delivers a solid body and it gives you nice apples, malty and sugary aroma’s.

a nose with a musty unpleasant, and a blended one, although it’s malty right there, it’s strange, and plastic, it could have been lying for a long time and it’s from a cork, okay, I won’t lower the rating for that, much lower ... The taste is harsh and burning, the aftertaste is probably not, than there is. The overall impression is weak, difficult to drink, little taste ... sadness ....

This is bitter, sweet from start to finish, it has a blends sweetness (I know its a blended malt) but there is something a little cardboardy at first.

Some lemon and vanilla come through but this tastes really young and immature to me, still its drinkable so the main criteria is there :).
