    Beautiful whisky from campbeltown
    • Nose
Citrus, barley, a little peat, orange
    • Taste
Sweet and sour and with a hint of saltiness, the oranges come through, quite funky, fruity
    • Finish
      long and sweet

Solid and tasty. The prices in Germany are too high for that, unfortunately.
    • Nose
      86 86
Chalky peat smoke. Malt sweetness with apples and pears. orange and lemon. nectarines. Light sea salt.
    • Taste
      87 87
A little better on the palate than the nose promises. The aromas that one had in the nose are a little clearer. Plus some sweetness from blossom honey.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium to long. Fruity notes (orange and nectarine) along with peat smoke, sea salt and some black pepper.

  4. Petitcham scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Simple and intuitive, fruity, moderately strong spices coming up from behind

  5. EricLeeee scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

    Nose
The signature malt aroma hits you instantly, along with a strong touch of honey and vanilla. Then it comes to the senses of the thickness of oiliness, a bit of citrus, and some gentle hints of smoke and peat.

    Palate
Significantly oily and malty! Sweet, spice, cinnamon, flower honey. A bit fruity and a hint of smoke.

    Finish
Mid; Still malty, a sense of toffee, along with the continuous slight peat.

  6. ZLako scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

N: Freshly squeezed lemon juice, malty notes, orange peel, fresh orchard fruits, a wee bit of honey, salty notes, fresh sea breeze, a tiny bit of spiciness coming through and a breath of smoke. Damn complex for 10 years.

P: Creamy, oily, spicy, vanilla, caramel, sea salt, again those orchard fruits, orange peel, pineapple, grapefruit then milk chocolate and coffee.

F: Long and pleasant with a hint of sea salt and a bit of smoke.

  9. Thermidor scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

An unusually good core range malt for this era of whisky but somehow I feel that the 5.11.2020 bottling takes the cake with 89 points while this is only almost as good.

    Great value for the price.

Let them chase their local barleys, as long as they leave this gem alone. The best allrounder with that perfect Springbank punch.

  13. Archer scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

The 10yo is pure Springbank essence, is concentrated and bottled distillery character and the liquid confirmation that Springbanks distillates don't even have to be left in the warehouse for too long.
    • Nose
The scent of freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed with a grapefruit purée, lightly salted. Wonderfully fresh and mineral at the same time. Rain-wet pebbles, mortar, machine oil, plus an emerging note of curry spices.
    • Taste
Pleasantly strong attack, which is less creamy than before (~2016 batches), but which nevertheless makes you think of Springbank. Salted tangerine slices, grapefruit, pineapple pieces. As in the nose, curry spices gain their place after a while with a focus on cardamom. Add pepper and the well-known and highly revered mineral note: salt water on pebbles. Later cocoa and milk coffee and always a spicy mineral fruitiness.
    • Finish
Long finish, clearly mineral with a hint of peat smoke, but without losing the fruitiness.

I love Springbank 10. This one is totally spot on to me. I've been thinking about it since my couple of drams of it yesterday.
Will be interesting to see how it goes with air as it is really soft and approachable now. Fruits - apples, tropical fruit. Coconut. Minerals. Touch of peat and dirt. So good.

Very good. It reminds me of SB12 Batch 23, but less complex.
    • Nose
      88 88
Pretty dirty with some salt. Limes, lots of malt, rocks bombarded by waves, machine oils, honey, oranges, pineapples.
    • Taste
      87 87
Very oily. Vanilla, buttery biscuits, orange peels, machine oil, wet rocks, honey. Quite naked - good.
    • Finish
      87 87
Machine oil, rocks wet with clean seawater, oranges, a little honey.

  18. Derbyshire_sipper scored this whisky 91 points Newbie

    Smell
Honey, Oranges, pineapple, mineraly (is that even a word?) like wet rocks.

    Taste
Waxy smooth, buttery shortbread. Burnt orange peel, creamy vanilla ice cream, bit of cinnamon too.

    Finish,
Medium finish, similar to but its that twang of orange that lingers on.

Oh its good. Incredibly easy to drink, so, so, so smooth.

  21. KayMeertens scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Compared it to a 2017 batch (ID 100855). The quality is very consistent. Thijs one is a bit maltier and dirtier in the nose, and the grassiness in the taste is quite particular.
Still a standard bottling that should be in everyone's collection.
    • Nose
      86 86
Lime, biscuit, malt, a little peat. Slightly dirty.
    • Taste
      86 86
Peat, lime, vanilla, peach, shortbread and grass.
    • Finish
      87 87
Peat, lime, peach, green apple, grass and gingerbread.

  22. Casketje scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Absolute stellar whisky - even in 2021 it's still the best price-quality ratio available from Springbank.

I feel like this batch lost a bit of dirtyness in favor of Sherry flavours.
    • Nose
      87 87
Dried apricots, citrus, raisins, herbs, the slightest bit of smoke.
    • Taste
      85 85
Citrus and sherry flavours, also very light in the smoke. A bit too round.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium finish, with lasting herbs and nuts.
