Well.. you don't expect it, but again a weird one. It seems a little bad but it isn't. It is complex and it needs a little time to open up, it has a good mouthfeel and you have to struggle through the 'Ben Nevis filth', which in my opinion is fun! In short; an entertaining and real Ben Nevis, but having a whole bottle in my collection seems pretty exhausting to me.

Initially it's feels a bit young. Yoghurt-like/whey and yeastiness. Raspberry's overdue. Well.., perhaps the whole range of overdue forest fruits. Ow, and ad rotten bloodoranges in the mix. Behind it all a molded wine barrel. Leather. Struck matches.
A flinty smell, like flint hitting each other.

Rich an oily. Red fruit like cranberry, blackcurrant and pomegranate. Licorice root, Prunes, some ginger, burnt caramel and burnt spices, bitter oranges, tobacco.

Slightly sweeter and quite long, but still bitter oranges. In the distance a little burnt, like woodsmoke where partly wet wood was thrown in between, tobacco.

Nose: barberry, dried sea buckthorn berries, dried rose hip fruits, some wood. The alcohol stings a bit. The type of fruit is interesting and the smell is slightly musty, like overripe berries.

Palate: Oh, I hardly feel the alcohol. Where did he go? The whisky tastes like dark chocolate with incorporated dried berries, very nice! The mouthfeel is oily and chocolaty. For the barrel type, I would bet on sherry, and not seasoned, but something of higher quality. You notice the youth, but not disturbing.

Finish: Medium length with dark chocolate and red berries.
