with water: he can take a little water, but not too much. The nose becomes sweeter, it becomes more pleasing in the mouth, but the tannins are still quite heavy

Conclusion: The nose is a dream, in the mouth it is too aggressive without water and in the finish the tannins take a little too much out of my hand. Overall, a nice bourbon barrel with a really good nose, which leaves a lot of space for the distillery character.

Fruit basket with a little sea salt, light fruits such as apricot, banana, rose hips and mirabelle plums, some coconut cream, vanilla, black tea. The alcohol is palpable and brings some white pepper with it, a little time and hand warmth bring out some oak spices like cloves
    • Taste

Creamy start, not as fruity as on the nose, with a little honey, salt, some spices
    • Finish
      84 84
long and intense, fruit and salt, on the back lots of tannins and a slight bitterness

"Rapture", well... Let's see if the "ecstasy" announced in the title really happens. :)

A bit sharp and closed without water, but quite nice, creamy ex-bourbon cask aromas.

Much more floral, sweeter, more accessible with water, and the first impression is confirmed: a fairly high-quality bourbon cask was at work here. Fat sweetness reminiscent of cotton candy and honey but balanced by a nice freshness (lemon, kumquat, sea breeze and some minerality). I like it very much for its age.
    • Taste

On the palate it is fun even without water, with a very dense, oily mouthfeel, a lot of sweetness and woody spice. But it still burns a little at almost 60%.

Adding water balances it out and gives it a nice balance of acidity, sweetness, spiciness and a touch of saltiness.

      Again: good for the age!

Salt and lemon, like tequila but without the snappyness. Instead, a creamy sweetness from the ex-bourbon cask reminiscent of popcorn and candy corn.

A strong cask strength Pulteney bottled from a 1st fill bourbon cask for the Frankfurt whisky shop Whisky for Life. The only independently bottled Pulteney in the WhiskyJason Blind Tasting failed to fully wow the crowd and only came in at #4. I liked it and put it at #2. Can it also convince or even delight when you taste it?

    • Nose
The alcohol is noticeable on the nose and carries a tart note of vanilla, which is followed by fruity plums. Fresh plums with a cough drop containing menthol and a few herbs. A few drops of water unfold more vanilla and sweet caramel.
    • Taste
In the mouth it is still strong even with a little water. It flows oily over the tongue, has sweetness and a plum compote spiced with clove and vanilla.
    • Finish
Here comes American oak on the finish, which is not bitter and finishes nicely. And then there's another hint of plum compote from the background.

This is a beautiful, bourbon-aged whisky with strength and a successful blend of fruit, spice and wood. It is not complicated and has a more fruity than maritime aroma. The plum aroma in particular is very tasty. The whisky can do well with a sip of water.

Not necessarily a drop for the herring fishermen - but definitely a delicious whisky for teatime at the harbor, which I also like when I taste it again. Ecstasy or rapture would be a little overstated though...

A nice pale bourbon cask whisky. Wonderful fruit notes in aroma and taste.
It's good that the Pulteney's character wasn't spoiled by subsequent aging in some sherry cask.

Sweetish, pungent, more harmonious with water, slightly spicy, some salt, vanilla, astringent

Medium length, sweetish, spicy, some salt
