This Tobermory is fun. Decent sherry in combination with the typical distillery character. The alcohol could have been better integrated for me.

I'll have to try it at some point to see if water helps.

    blind tasting.

Exciting, I'm guessing a blend from the 70s or something. Which one, no idea. Probably Scotland. Alcohol strength would be interesting. Ordinary whistles in the Mu d. Is there something around 50%? Otherwise rather medieval. Around 12 years. Exciting experience, if my assessment is correct. And he needs time.
    • Nose
Sweaty feet in the nose, that's a good start... A little metallic, old bottle flavor, a little nutty. But the flavors fight the OBF. It smells like old blend. After a while, aromas of canned fruit, a little musty honey and finally a fine sweetness emerge.
    • Taste
Stronger than expected in the mouth. A little hot, a little alcoholic, a lot of pepper. Sweet malty, little oak.
    • Finish
Slightly bitter, astringent on the finish, the canned fruit persists, as does the slightly metallic OBF. Dry with subtle malt at the end.

Delicious fresh and fruity sherry malt. The flavors are not very complex or demanding but consistently harmonious for me. These wood notes make it appear a bit older than it is and the smoke gives the malt a certain kick.

Soft, almost delicate touch on the nose. Great sweet and fruity aromas of grapes, cherries, red berries and slightly tart currants come together with lots of nuts and roasted almonds, malt yeast dough from the glass. A little later old, rotten wood is added. In the background more chocolate, tobacco and some caramel pudding.
    • Taste
      87 87
The first sip is warming, tingling and quite spicy to spicy. Then immediately nice and fruity after a little dried banana, oranges, cherries. Nuts and milk chocolate come out of the background. Some freshly roasted coffee beans, slightly dusty, musty. Something like peat smoke comes in very subtly, which I didn't have in my nose.
    • Finish
      85 85
Quite a short finish, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate, more oak spice towards the end.

Alcohol is very involved. Fruity, hardly any smoke. Short finish. Delicious, tasty but also relatively simple.

Wonderful sherry aroma dominates the nose and the taste, in the background there are musty fruit aromas with rotten wood tones. An intense nut note with cherries and morello cherries completes the wonderful PX aroma!
    • Nose
Dried grapes and berries rise sweetly, sour cherries combine with black currants and juicy blackberries to create an intensely fruity nose, with a slightly musty and fermented note in the background. Roasted hazelnuts, caramel and hints of tobacco and leather whet your appetite for the first sip ...
    • Taste
Dried fruits are slightly tart on the tongue, caramel and hazelnuts, roasted aromas and a delicate hint of smoke, hints of must and must, raisins and cherries, smoky tobacco and a hint of wet leather also appear in the taste.
    • Finish
Dried fruits stick warm on the palate, peeled hazelnuts melt on the tongue, the flow of saliva is massively stimulated. Spicy wood tones play with sweet fruit, a hint of cedar wood heralds the end of the aftertaste.
