Something special, but quite good for a change. Between 85 and 87 points depending on the mood of the day and preferred taste profile.
The first nose corresponds to a fruity Speysider and the sweetness has a golden shine and gives the first hints of the rum cask. The almost 56 percent do not burn (here yet) at all.
After 15 minutes, the slightly spicy aromas of the rum, reminiscent of copper and metal, come into the middle part.
Water also reinforces the rum impression even more and the metallic notes are now too dominant, the finish a bit too present.
The attack is strong, the fruit here is more of a mealy Elstar apple and there is now a lot more wood than in the nose. I immediately add three drops of water, but it's also my fault that the first dram of the evening starts at just under 56 percent.
Softer with water, but the finish is very present here too and it looks a little younger than it is.
A very astringent whisky, rather dry mouthfeel and the finish is almost medium.
