Very nice bouquet and incredibly long and fruity finish. Nevertheless, a Glenfarclas can always be seen in the background. For fans of the distillery, a clear buy recommendation.

Comment: Glenfarclas 1989 Cask 13007 from the summer release 2021 is a fine, successful whisky with a wonderful nosing and a very balanced sherry profile without any off-notes, which cannot quite keep up with the sister casks 13005 and 13055, for example. The finish in particular is a bit disappointing. With an issue price of well over 650 euros and the data sheet, the expectations were of course enormously high. Maybe the perfect bottling time was missed here, who knows. Nonetheless, this is a great drop that is sure to delight its followers. From a 2cl sample. Thanks to Manuel Tuschmann. Slainte!

The color is dark amber and immediately after pouring, a beguiling sherry scent exudes in the nosing glass. Streaks run down the glass wall and, surprisingly, the first few seconds are characterized by a noticeable alcoholic note. After a minute or two this is over and you can slowly sort the impressions in your nose. And you're rewarded with a flawless old-style sherry profile. Dark plums, raisins, cherries and the last traces of barley sugar are noticeable. These sweet notes are accompanied by a very elegant load of wood aromas, leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and espresso and a small hint of menthol. A wonderful nosing that only gets better with time.

The Glenfarclas then pushes properly on the tongue, which was not necessarily to be expected with its 51.9%. In the first moment, the spicy notes dominate here, rather the sweetness fights back. The nosing continues in the mouth, the flow of saliva is extremely stimulated. The chocolate notes are a bit more present in the mouth than on the nose, and the coffee notes are also a bit more pronounced. Everything is framed by the sherry sweetness and the elegant spice notes. The second sip is a bit spicier at the beginning, but the sweetness still manages to fight against it at the last moment and assert itself. An elegant and interesting interplay between the elements.

I would rate the finish as medium. The mouth becomes drier relatively quickly, the tongue briefly sticks to the palate, the spicy notes predominate and the sweetness fades relatively quickly, almost too quickly. Here, too, there is a little more music with the second sip, but the impressions do not linger in the mouth much longer. What remains is a tart bitterness that slowly fades away.

Nose- varnish, a little mildew, cherries, tobacco, excellent
Taste - dry sherry, leather, cigar box, exotic wood, dried fruit.
Finish - Bitter chocolate, oak, light sweetness, spices and tobacco appear
    92 deserved, very good farclas!
