The whisky lies dark, heavy and oily in the glass, leaves greasy streaks and quickly spreads in the air.
The nose starts with typical notes for a sherry whisky of this age: raisins, ripe plums, oak cupboard, spices, lovage, various herbs, rotten wood, leather and walnuts. You can tell immediately that it has matured for 25 years.
While the aroma tends to move on the rustic, tart side at first, it gradually swings over to the sweeter side. The raisins are now more reminiscent of rum raisins. This is followed by dark red fruits, chocolate, cocoa, pastries and a little cinnamon. Tart and sweet notes are ideally balanced.
Oily, forest honey, plum jam, dates, nuts, juicy peach, rotten wood and herbs again, moist fruit tobacco, dark chocolate, cherries.
The finish is long-lasting with tart oak notes, espresso, drying fruits and spices.
