  1. Willie JJ scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

It's easy drinking, but I was hoping for something a little more exciting (I don't know why).
    • Nose
Quite light, orange oil, orange zest, paraffin and a hint of mint. Fresh bread.
    • Taste
Bitter orange, fresh mint and spice.
    • Finish
The spice builds to high intensity, but is tempered by sugary sweetness and a relentless orange note.

The Oloroso finish has perked up this one. Lovely fruit, very good indeed.

    Colour: Old gold.
Nose: Starts on mild spice, then on toffee, hay, some light
fragrant floral notes as well as a touch of smoke and grapes.
    Taste: Slightly
oaky and spicy, salty, floral (violet), slightly winey, on treacle and toffee.
Diluted, it becomes more on toffee, tobacco leaves and white pepper. The finish
is medium, round, smooth, malty, with some toffee and floral notes.
    General
Impression: a round expression of Isle or Jura, with some sweet caramel notes.
Quite different from the older 21 YO, more round and complex. A pleasant whisky,
from bourbon casks with a finish in a sherry cask from 1963.

    Attractive Jura, around 130 EUR.
    • Nose
It smells very sweet on nougat and Fanta, with
furniture polish and salted peanuts as a bones. Very inviting without the jute
or rancid edge that I often find in Jura. Hints of citric acid. Touch of
      cinnamon.
    • Taste
It is very creamy and mouth coating with a rich
fruitiness, before the spices kick in. Nutmeg, cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
      Hint of liquorice.
    • Finish
Fairly long finish in which some more oak and even a
      bit of smoke develops.

Nose: Delicately salty sherry aromas with orange juice, subtle notes of herbs, tobacco leaves and a grassy freshness. Added to this is a combination of vanilla, honey and caramel.
Taste: Oily, slightly salty herbal, orange aromas with deposited oak, smoke and vanilla; the whole beautifully rounded and pleasantly soft.
Finish: Medium length, with slightly smoky vanilla and fresh-looking herbal and orange flavors. Dry sherry with honey and well-bound wood.
Note: This malt was allowed to finish in one of the oldest Oloroso sherry barrels of the distillery of 1963!

    • Nose
Combines sweet and syrupy aromas with a delicious mix of fruit and soft tones of mocha. Also nice hints of creamy sherry, blueberries and stewed pear. Very attractive.
    • Taste
In the palette open showing seaweed, pear, ginger syrup and soft, vibrant spicy flavors ending in a pleasant aftertaste of vanilla.
    • Finish
Opens varied and spicy without a particular ingredient to dominate, very ably balanced

I liked this, Very smooth and easy to drink, The finishing in the sherry cask gives this some nice suttle sherry notes.

A special edition 21yo Isle of Jura bottled for the distillery`s 200th anniversary in 2010. This has been finished in a Gonzalez Byass Oloroso Sherry cask from 1963, the year the distillery was rebuilt, and comes with a personal message from distillery manager Willie Cochrane, inviting recipients to visit the distillery for a personal tour and a dramming session.
