Inconspicuous, not very complicated malt and yet somehow tasty and quite tasty. I like nose best. I like this light sulfur-wood-malt touch. But it's not consistently special.
    • Nose
      86 86
Wood, dried fruits, slightly sulphurous, malt and honey sweetness are the first things on my nose. In addition, there is some cherry cake and currants which contribute a subtle acidity. In the background some caramelized popcorn, cinnamon
    • Taste
      85 85
Spicy, slightly tingling, pepper, every now and then it has a slightly bubbly effect. Fruit holds back, oranges and cherries are only very easily perceptible. Instead more sweetness and spices. slightly bitter moment after chocolate.
    • Finish
      83 83
Medium-long finish, some nuts, oak spice, milk coffee,

Hardly any aromas apart from alcohol, short finish, again a disappointing club bottle, which seems to be getting worse from year to year

    Easy drinking malt.
From the profile it is more malty nutty and the sherry influence is more in the background.

Round, pleasant sweetness and malt, a clearly perceptible alcoholic note.
Very pleasant malt, really tasty! But nothing complex, nothing to linger on.

  16. James.Braddock scored this whisky 83 points Member Senior

For Oloroso, the fruitiness here is too light or sour. This is followed by milk chocolate and the alcohol is well integrated. A good drinking whisky but nothing more.

  17. ThorstenH scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

A light, unassuming dram. Quite neutral, nothing special, no notes that impose themselves. Alcohol clearly felt in the mouth.

For this price, this is a whisky without rough edges.
Couldn't detect any sulfur or bitterness. A typically round, fruity whisky for every day!

    The club bottle from Whisky.de

  20. glen efze scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A Glenfarclas from 2009, bottled in 2021 - i.e. 10-11 years old. It is the club bottle from whisky.de, which is current at the end of 2021, costs € 60.00 with membership, which is an announcement, but puts it into perspective, as there is also a 5% club discount for a year, which can sometimes be profitable. The more important question is: is the whisky good? The facts are ok: uncolored, not chill-filtered, Oloroso ripening, amber color.

    • Nose
When you smell it for the first time, it is age-appropriate and fruity. In the foreground is a nice pear that is juicy and also has a few tart parts. This is followed by sweet aromas, apple compote with vanilla cream, a few hazelnuts grated over it, maybe a few almonds. Then the cream turns into yogurt.

Overall, it is a nice aroma that is not deep and complex, but rather fruity, juicy, but which makes you want the first sip. The alcohol is ok, it doesn't attract any attention.
    • Taste
In the mouth the whisky is mild and fruity with a bitter end. There is a little block malt with which you can eat a pear, there are a few spices, maybe with a hint of cinnamon. There is a hint of marzipan. Sulfur is mentioned in the base - I don't have that here at all, at least not noticeable or even annoying.
    • Finish
In the end, the wood is not very present and the aftertaste is modest. But one can also say positively: There is no final bitterness, there is no mustiness and luckily the herbaceous vegetable broth that Glenfarclas sometimes has is missing.

I've drank worse and more expensive Glenfarclas. It's not great, outstanding or anything - but it's tasty and easy to drink, it doesn't have any noticeably bad or too old barrels, which can happen at Glenfarclas. It's an 11 year old whisky with 46% ABV. And if you consciously join the club to take advantage of the discount from time to time, the PLV is absolutely fine in the end. It smells off quite well ...

    Delicious Glenfarclas.
    • Nose
      Color:
      Shiny orange - gold

      Nose:
Uiihhh ... the colleague starts with dry softwood. Behind it there is something slightly chemical that is used to treat the wood. I'll leave it ...
With a little time in the glass, the chemical disappears. Instead, there is now a nice, light-fruity sweetness. Develops a bit tropical and feels like multivitamin juice. Milk chocolate and a subtle nut flavor. Sour cherries join in.
With even more time, the guy looks a bit bitter. Fresh herbs and now also plums. I can't help it ... I have something like sweet, fresh weed in the aroma.
    • Taste
First soft, sweet start. Then the colleague gets a little snappy. The 46% is enough here to deliver a neat spicy aroma. Again, that tropical impact. In addition, this slightly bitter wood. Sweet grain and slightly malty.
With the second sip, I immediately find this grassy look again. But now more nutty bitterness to it. The sour plums again.
    • Finish
Rather long. First properly spicy again. Then a mixture of wonderful sweetness with a little honey and a bitter, pleasant bitterness.

Everyday whisky is ok, but nothing special. A bit of sherry, oak spice and also doesn't have a long finish. A good drinkable whisky for the price, but not outstanding

Drinking is very relaxed, but sulfur? I would be very "allergic" to it ... I can't find any of it in my bottle .... And the quality is higher than some Christmas bottlings .... I like it!
