On the nose there is a sweet note with some malt sugar but also artificial sweetener notes. Then an aroma that is, in the best case, shortbread with a lot of butter, but tends towards butyric acid here. In addition citrus fruit, light smoke that goes in the direction of paint mud (brush cleaner ...). Some bitterness bites the nose.
It offers smoke with gum, gets pungent, some musty fruit - immature smoke. Those were my notes in the blind tasting. In the open sample it has become a bit milder, the rubber aspect is becoming less. Nevertheless, there is a sharpness that does not come from the alcohol alone.
The aftertaste is weak. Little of the whisky remains and the smoke is not convincing either. Sharpness and bitterness remain and the sweetener aspect.
That's not really convincing. When you taste it, it's not as cruel as when you taste it, but it offers too little to get on the buy list. The Maiden release from 2020 should have been better. In my tasting, he wasn't in last place, but penultimate. Loser was at Springbank 15. But that's another story...
