Nice and creamy on the tongue, varied, not too "grainy" and not too sweet, very harmonious single grain.

Very nice spicy nose, grain, malt. Surprising and unexpected: red berries. In addition, almonds and nougat, the spicy notes become more intense over time.
    • Taste
      87 87
Creamy and spicy, first of all makes for a very interesting feeling on the tongue, kind of furry. Well licorice! Vanilla, honey, not too sweet.
    • Finish

Medium length, still creamy. Thyme and rosemary, vanilla, honey. The finish is really good again and makes you want another dram.

This whiskey shows how good single grain whisk(e)y can be. The taste starts with significant pungency that really kicks you /50% ABV/, followed by the sweetness, honey, fruitiness /ripe oranges, tangerines, cherries.../, strawberry jam, raisins in rum, vanilla, toffee, maybe even chocolate, cinnamon and oak. Oily structure. Spicy-sweet relatively long aftertaste. Strong cask-driven character, red wine cask made perfect job. Excellent piece of work, I highly recommend.

    Bordeaux cask didn't work here

    nose:
on the maderized wine, it is fruity and stewed, cereal
spices too, sweet, on nutmeg, almond, crème brûlée
    blocked:
fruity, toasted, it's sweet in terms of fruity scents, on wine macerated for a while, then on exotic, sweet fruits, cooked banana
wood soaked with vanilla, a little honey and more spices
    final:
vanilla, malty, fruity and macerated sweetness, which makes you want to dive back into it despite the well-integrated 50°

    Intense

If I'm not mistaken, I was able to taste it in preview at the Spirits in the Sky whisky festival in Brussels last November. Chris Hayes then treated us to a dram of an umarked bottle (because the whiskey had not yet been released). I thought it was very good at the time, so assume that it will be a very pleasant reunion with this 13-year-old single grain from Teeling that got a finish on red wine casks from Bordeaux.

Although the DNA of the Teeling single grain is unmistakable, this creamy nose is dominated by red fruit in a very pleasant way. It is a stew of strawberries, red berries and raspberries with a few krieks (not to be confused with cherries) in the mix. In addition, a clear touch of nougat with hazelnuts (delicious!), almond paste and peppernuts. Even something of speculaas and milk chocolate. I think this is very, very tasty!

Good body, indeed. Nice and creamy. The spices now speak first – think cinnamon and chili pepper, but also some nutmeg, paprika and licorice – followed by vanilla and more of that juicy red fruit. Manuka honey and coconut milk. Perfectly seasoned and nice and intense.

The finish is long, very spicy but still sweet until the end.

A winner. Thank you, Benny. It never ceases to amaze me that you have all these goodies from Teeling in da house (and it makes me very happy that you want to share it with me).

    S 8
Grain whisky taken a quick dip in a berry jam. A Christmas dram that warms you up without burning your throat. Young in age but with huge in surprise. Good try to show young grain whisky can also be smooth and complex.

    N 26
Obvious spice from grain but pleasant
Touch of wood and sweetness (bourbon-like)
More sweetness growing, toffee, berry jam
A hint of vanilla behind the scene

    P 24
    First warm, creamy mouthfeel
A light touch of honey sweetness and bitterness
Gradually transit to grain whisky spice

    F 25
    Mid, dry finish
    Oaky
    Grain
Touch of burn from young grain whisky (in a good way) but quickly transit to creamy spice

Black pepper, cinnamon, corn, caramel, butterscotch, cherries, wood shavings. Lots of stewed fruits and honey, especially on the palate. Creamy texture. Perfectly fine neat, but a few drops of water really make the flavours come alive. Gorgeous whiskey.

Bordeaux imposes its mark: land of heather, forest fruits, berries, blackberries, currants. We also have conifers, with fir, pine needle and resin. Varnished wood. Red plum. Bulk cereals, puffed rice, wheat, corn. All this in a beautiful balance. On the palate, it is vinous, muscat grape juice, rich spices, tannins, oily earth. The finish is a little light but very long and warm, on cola and oak bark. Wet undergrowth. Grapes that burst in the mouth.
