Whisky reviews for Dimple 12-year-old

  1. St. Pauli scored this whisky 71 points Connoisseur

Tasting whiskies that have been in the bottle for around 50 years can be a hit or miss. This one is more of the latter, with an obvious OBE.

It's not completely spoilt though, in the mouth it gets better. The profile of toffee/fudge, spice and some tinned fruit is to be tasted. It's a rather straightforward combination, nothing really special.
I would pour this for friends only if they really would want to try it.
    • Nose
      60 60
The nose suffers from OBE. It's very metallic and resembles water in which flowers have been standing for quite a while, cabbage and a lot of caramel/fudge.
    • Taste
      75 75
It's better in the mouth. It's surprisingly powerful and peppery. It still has the metallic and flower water side, but to a lesser extent. The fudge is more prominent, just as ahorn syrup and tinned fruit.
    • Finish
      77 77
Moderately long and still rather powerful on pepper, ginger bread, even some cinnamon. The fudge and tinned fruit are there too, and still some of that rusty notes.
