Whisky Reviews for Caperdonich 1972 DT

6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 91.29 points

  1. Falnor scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

    A very
    elegant and tasty whisky.
    • Nose
      To be or
not te be a great and typical 1972 caper? It's like walking and nosing in a
fruitorchard. First some yellow fruit, nice woody touch and it develops into more tropical fruit. So give this nose some time
    • Taste
      It's all
about the fruit. Nice and fresh pineapple, pretty ripe passion fruit, apple,
mango and coconut for yet another tropical side.
    • Finish
sweetness gets company in the form of oaky spice. Think of herbal and fruitbased tea.

I had the pleasure of tasting a dram of this wonderful whisky with my friend Falnor. Thank you!
    • Nose
first of all very fruity, with some wax and old wooden furniture. Some sweet floral notes in the beginning. Perhaps a small hint of sherry sweetness?

later on the nose opens more, and some more sweet red fruit comes up, think of ripe strawberries and raspberries. Very delicious, but give it some time to really open itself.
    • Taste
After sniffing and smelling this dram for at least 15 minutes, i got a bit mellow and was dreaming away with the lovely fruitness. After my first sip I was wide awake again.

Wow! fruit all the way! Not really the fresh young fruits, but the ripe tropical fruits. well balanced and mouthwatering.
    • Finish
The finish is long, and leaves a small filmy layer in the mouth. Next to the already present fruitness some wooden oaky notes come lingering on, quite pleasant to say the least.

Again a very good Caperdonich 1972. Glad I have a bottle left...
    • Nose
Typical Caperdonich nose of the mythical year 1972. Tropical fruit bowl of plums, pineapple, peaches and apricots. Beeswax. This one adds polished oak and some sweet barley. Marzipan.
    • Taste
Delicious fruity sweetness. Passion fruit and strawberries (!?). Also oranges and tangerines. Honey. Cinnamon. Coffee. It's all very smooth and juicy.
    • Finish
Long. The sweetness remains for a long time. Big oak. Ginger. Slightly spicy at the end.
