As always a treat - great whisky for 50 €.
    • Nose
overripe red grapes, dark chocolate, latte, some nutmeg, mild, sweetish smoke
    • Taste
strong and full-bodied, the smoke is a bit clearer than in the nose, ashen, burnt sponge cake, goes in dark chocolate with a touch of blackberry / blackcurrant over
    • Finish
long, warm, dry, bittersweet, pepper, dark chocolate, a light reminder of herb bitters and black berry fruit liqueur

You can taste the 3 year finish in the Oloroso barrel, the darkest is sweet and very fruity. The Bowmore Lemon and the Smoke nicely balance each other with the Oloroso flavors. I think it's delicious. Only the color does not have to be. Good PLV.
    • Nose
slight sulfur at the first sniffing, but this flies almost completely after 2 minutes, mild campfire smoke, sweet raisins, dark chocolate, vanilla, plum jam with cinnamon, leather, sweet tobacco, maritime touch
    • Taste
sweet, orange, blackberries, dark chocolate, glides over in espresso, in the background the Bowmore lemon, leather, maggi, burnt popcorn, caramel, vanilla, dark cherries, red apples, salt, pepper, cinnamon, roasted hazelnuts. Gets sweeter and more fruity with each sip, pepper continues to build up.
    • Finish
sweet and spicy, warming, orange, lemon, campfire smoke becomes a little stronger, apples and blackberries, vanilla is stronger, then still ripe banana appears; in the end something menthol

  3. Gloin scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      some smoke, red fruits, sherry
    • Taste
little smoke, red fruits, sherry, pleasant sweetness, less creamy than Laga DE
    • Finish
long, dry on the palate and on the tongue, sweet in the throat

Smoked meat under the prune sauce with nuts, black berries and strong black tea.

Nose is pretty interesting with some toffee, caramel, speculaas (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a little smoke, although it's also a bit 'artificial' and lacks some power. This absence of power becomes all the more clear in the taste and development. It just tastes very thin. This should have been bottled at a much higher strength (i.e. 50+%), and preferably without chill filtering and colouring.
Finish is quite ok, with a lot of dark chocolate and sherry fruits and a little smoke.

The Darkest, probably a close relative of the Laimring. Probably the not cask strength edition of the Laimring. Both stand in front of me, they are pretty similar. For me, the Darkest has a softer, deeper sherry nose with more vanilla (lower alcohol content). The Laimring is more potent in all respects.

On the nose raisins, sherry, nicely balanced smoke, vanilla, oranges.

For 43% a strong start, smoke, spice, wood, sweet, balanced.

Finish ash, smoke, medium. Parts of the nose remain on the tongue, nice.

Excellent Bowmore, it can be described endlessly: a berry meadow in the middle of a fireplace, extinguished by the Islay rain. Darkest is a shard of a bygone era that you can still touch.
    • Nose
      87 87
Very pleasant, deep, multifaceted; dark chocolate, coffee, smoked bacon on one side; overripe, soft apricots and bananas, strawberry jam - on the other; all this under a layer of sweet smoke, iodine and tobacco.
    • Taste
      86 86
There is a lot of smoke in contrast to the aroma, but it is appropriate, very pleasant; varnished wood; coffee; the berry note is strong: black currant, strawberry, blackberry; "cherry in cognac" sweets; again wood, chocolate, coffee.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long, warm; sweet sherry; plum or currant jam; burnt barbecue; oak notes; the tobacco is very long, pleasant dryness, like after a smoked cigar; a little spice.

Nose: dark raisins, perfume notes, sweet, meadow and hay, light maritime notes, sherry sweetness, subtle smoke, fine cinnamon spice.
Taste: Peppery start, a hint of ash, vanilla, strong spice and a sweet aftertaste. Pleasantly mild on the palate.
Finish: short, pleasantly mild and yet spicy.
