You can taste the 3 year finish in the Oloroso barrel, the darkest is sweet and very fruity. The Bowmore Lemon and the Smoke nicely balance each other with the Oloroso flavors. I think it's delicious. Only the color does not have to be. Good PLV.
    • Nose
slight sulfur at the first sniffing, but this flies almost completely after 2 minutes, mild campfire smoke, sweet raisins, dark chocolate, vanilla, plum jam with cinnamon, leather, sweet tobacco, maritime touch
    • Taste
sweet, orange, blackberries, dark chocolate, glides over in espresso, in the background the Bowmore lemon, leather, maggi, burnt popcorn, caramel, vanilla, dark cherries, red apples, salt, pepper, cinnamon, roasted hazelnuts. Gets sweeter and more fruity with each sip, pepper continues to build up.
    • Finish
sweet and spicy, warming, orange, lemon, campfire smoke becomes a little stronger, apples and blackberries, vanilla is stronger, then still ripe banana appears; in the end something menthol

Powerful, but delicate, with black berries, nuts, smoked meat, prunes and raisins in the aroma, the taste is soft, dry with nuances of black berries and spicy spices with nuts, the finish is wooden and pepper, a bit bitter.
Great sherry peat bog. The barrel lay on the soft Boumorovskuyu ayla just fine.

As always a treat - great whisky for 50 €.
    • Nose
overripe red grapes, dark chocolate, latte, some nutmeg, mild, sweetish smoke
    • Taste
strong and full-bodied, the smoke is a bit clearer than in the nose, ashen, burnt sponge cake, goes in dark chocolate with a touch of blackberry / blackcurrant over
    • Finish
long, warm, dry, bittersweet, pepper, dark chocolate, a light reminder of herb bitters and black berry fruit liqueur

Nose is pretty interesting with some toffee, caramel, speculaas (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a little smoke, although it's also a bit 'artificial' and lacks some power. This absence of power becomes all the more clear in the taste and development. It just tastes very thin. This should have been bottled at a much higher strength (i.e. 50+%), and preferably without chill filtering and colouring.
Finish is quite ok, with a lot of dark chocolate and sherry fruits and a little smoke.

    • Nose
      some smoke, red fruits, sherry
    • Taste
little smoke, red fruits, sherry, pleasant sweetness, less creamy than Laga DE
    • Finish
long, dry on the palate and on the tongue, sweet in the throat

The nose is fascinating. The palate takes some getting used to and the finish is unspectacular. The nose saves it to 66 points. Too bad the palate is bad.

Winey, dark fruit smoke. It is an aromatic smoke, not a trace of ashy or medicinal. Red Apple. The smoke is so subtle that it just spices something. Milk chocolate. With a little time, fruit acid is added. Some star anise. A hint of sour wood shines through. Herbs.
    • Taste
      48 48
The start is a bit thin. There is creamy chocolate. There is dry tobacco. There are cherries. All of this is great, unfortunately something is lacking in strength. The tasting is strange. Extremely sour, even uncomfortable for a moment. Then a little more pleasant dry tobacco comes to the fore. But it remains uncomfortable.

Rather short. Tart, fruity, subtly bitter.

A nose very smoky, almost smoky, which will dominate the whole. Behind, the sherry is there, but discreet. Nice balance nevertheless. Leather and caramel, raisins, porridge, tar, soot, peat.
In the mouth, it is light, fruits and sherry leave hardly room for a light and elegant peat. The whole is enhanced by a touch of coarse salt. The spices rise quickly however. The finish is very good, earth, coal, ash and olive oil, some red fruits, light caramel.

The whole philosophizing about whether the name "Darkest" makes sense, although Bowmore is known to color ... so what ...
The whole argument over whether the 15y without the name addition Darkest is now the same or not .... so what ...
Here you get in any case - especially at the PLV! - a really great whisky. For me but not quite as good as the 18y.
