I love this so much, should have bought this when it was still available (took several years to sell out, at about 60 euros). By far my favorite blend, very smooth and accessible, yet it has some typically japanese characteristics, of much more expensive whiskies (some of the good Hanyus typically).
Caramel, then the lovely incense temple smell I so much love in some japanese whisky (mizunara wood?), mouthwatering smoked ham. Also flowery notes, jasmine, freshly opened apricots.
Beautiful fruit to oak transition, creme brulee.
The amazing oaky bitterness I associate with mizunara (japanese oak). I might be wrong though, as I am not sure any mizunara casks where involved in this blend.
Light, floral and delicate, but also sweet (slightly honeyed) and fruity. On the palate, superb balance, both intense and spicy and flexible on the other hand. Some notes of coffee. Finale floral, malty, sweet and long!
