Nice profile, easy drinking, he lacks a bit of tension, but as everyday dram he is good.
    • Nose
Mild peat smoke from the beginning, phenolic, disinfectant, caramel and citrus notes, with a little maritime flair.
    • Taste
Sweet, strong, toffee and peat, some pepper and delicate oak. Slightly thin.
    • Finish
A dark toffee note quickly turns into a coffee note, before leaving only an ashy note, not too long.

    wow, I'm excited!
The second smelling and tasting also adds a beautiful oak
a real alternative to Ardbeg or Laphi
Great cinema for this age and price
    • Nose
a lot of smoke, blindly I would tap Islay
Lemon, not sour but not sweet either
      a crackling campfire, warming
      a pronounced salty-maritime touch
    • Taste
slight alcoholic bizzling at the tip of the tongue
      honeyed
      strong but well integrated smoke
      the sweetness is getting stronger
Finally, a sooty ash-cone remains behind

A well crafted and tasty peaty malt, displaying a fine balance between phenols, fruit, and wood extracts.

    • Nose
Nice peat ala Laphroaig, medicinal, woody, fruity. Lots of vanilla, and a dash of white pepper. Iodine, and medical gauze. A little liquorice in the background. Dried orange peels, and crystallised kumquats.
    • Taste
Still this nice combo of phenols, vanilla, and citrus fruits. A hint of gentian, a good splash of soft lemon juice, and this kind of herbs used in those monastic liqueurs. A little ammonia too, with more liquorice than on the nose. Creamy and tasty, but falls a bit on the finish (would deserve some more %).
    • Finish
Long, on cold ashes, with lemon drops coming back, and the persistence of the liquorice.

Very distinctive nose, with lots of smoke and a medicinal element (TCP?) balanced with a hazelnut and toffee background. Lovely! A couple of drops of water brought out even more complexity, with hints of heather coming through. Not quite as well balanced on the palate, with smoke and pepper dominating. Long and warming finish.

A whisky with a clear presence of peat followed by wonderful flavors and aromas that many fans will be happy. Benriach 10 Year Speyside has the typical characteristics and with the addition of a little water extra delicious!
    • Nose
Smoky aromas with notes of citrus, peat and malt with hints of honey, fruit and soft oak
    • Taste
A delicious taste of juicy, very sweet with peat moss and spicy herbs followed by a complex and elegant blend of fruit, heather, walnut, oak and spices
    • Finish
A long, pure finish of vanilla and a hint of cocoa and peat that the balance of bitter and sweet sustain

  10. saintjimmy scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
gentle peat, not as aggressive as Islay whiskies. More floral with honeyed aromaâ€
    • Taste
rather flaw with some peat, honey and mango.
    • Finish
      short, dry, smoky finish.
