From parcel no. 6 of The Single Malts of Scotland series from Elixir Distillery, a white wine light Glencadam with 48% vol. There should be no question that the whisky comes from ex-bourbon casks, as is typical for the majority of Glencadam bottlings. Does it need independent bottling with a batch of five casks?
    • Nose
Green apples, pears, mown grass and grainy mash tun aromas. Can be described as young and fresh, but can also be described as too young and fermented.
    • Taste
Sweetness is there, concentrated grape juice, unripe, slightly bitter white wine - but the alcohol is only 48% vol. quite strong and overpowers the aromas.
    • Finish
Bitterness, alcohol, unripe fruit - the whisky doesn't convince me.

Finally, after a series of Glencadams, this is an independent bottling that reflects the character of the distillery and the other bottlings well. But you really need this bottling with 48% vol. neither, it differs too little from the Distillery Bottlings.

Starts fresh and still quite youthful. Lots of fully ripe Granny Smith apples, overripe pears or rather pear compote, some grass, mineral accents and repeated hints of glue, which are by no means disturbing. In addition, lemon cream, unripe hazelnuts, some blossom honey, light fruit candies and dried flowers.

Surprisingly rich and wonderfully driven by distillery character. More pears, Granny Smith apples, lots of grass and citrus zest, nice pithy minerality, maybe even a hint of smoke. Later also powdered sugar, anise biscuits, dried flowers and chopped mint.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium length, nice tart spiciness of grass, green hazelnuts and dark chocolate.
