Awesome bottling. Great value and a tasty fruit salad.

Fruit and zesty citrus. Sooo much fruit salad.

Soft, sweet and fruity with heaps of ripe pears.
    • Finish
Medium length but has strawberries and peaches as the standout.

An outstanding Bablair compared to the rest of Balblair bottlings released at that time.

N- Ever so familiar sweet malt, lifted orange caramel, crepe suzette, salted popcorn, white chocolate and scents of floral. Beautifully done, rather delicate or perhaps a little thin on body. So gentle and elegance with good substance, but hanging on a thin string.

P- Soft, fatness and buttery build up give a fuller overall mouthfeel, pleasant honey lingers, curious savoury caramel, where the salt come from? But slightly watery and diluted at the tail.

F- Short-medium, smooth, pepper with more honey, cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla.

The aromas on the nose are very lovely and delicate but it lacks a bit of depth on the palate. it’s all very subtle but well aged. The floral and fresh fruit tones in this whisky make it a lovely summer evening dram. With a bit more oomph on the palate it would score a whole lot better in my book.

    • Taste
A soft, delicate and well balanced whisky with aroma’s of cherries, fresh fruits, apples (yellow and green), barley sugar, honey, hint of white pepper, subtle cinnamon, aniseeds, fresh mint, vanilla, ginger, citrus, tonic, bananas hint of solvents, butter and a subtle oak.

Colour : Amber Gold(no colouring materials are added. i got a confirmation on that during the tasting form Lucas)

Nose : Still very fruity like the 2000, but heavier with more oak , raisin and dried banana and pineapple. More complex, and wood. spices are there too.

Palate: Fruits (raisins, sultanas, banana, apple) and some cherries dipped in sherry, Spicy ginger and again that white peppery thing is noticeable. The 2000 DNA is also in full motion here, but more complexity and heaviness due to the wood influence . Complex stuff. Lovely.

Finish : Long fruity, spicy and dry.

At this stage i posed a question regarding some cask strength bottling (or the lack of them), and John replied that they are aware of the growing demand of whisky drinkers for higher ABV cask strength expressions. He didn’t say much, but one could understand it’s coming. So , i really am waiting for that CS release from Balblair. Hope they release it sometime soon…
