    Simple but pleasant Balblair.

    • Taste
Vanilla, pepper and ginger. Apple and orange. Flowers and honey. A touch of salt.
    • Finish
      Medium length, fruity.

Very well balanced and potent, but the price is unfortunate.
    • Nose
Strong fruity and honey odor - pears, peaches, honey, malt, vanilla, biscuits, very light spiciness
    • Taste
The taste of honey sweet - honey, vanilla, some fruit, malt, again slightly spicy
    • Finish
In the reverberation of malt, light woodyness, green apples and fine spiciness, which makes them feel still long

Colour : Chardonnay (no colouring materials are added. i got a confirmation on that during the tasting form Lucas)

Nose : What a nice exotic fruit salad we got over here, some vanilla and honey too. during the tasting i described the nose as ‘Vanilla Ice cream, with some honey drizzled all over, and nuts on top’ quite poetic, i agree but very true. This young nose is very very pleasant and appetizing. i couldn’t wait to try some on the palate. Lucas had outdone himself describing this one as a sweetish girl..

Palate: Sweet, honey, floral notes combined with hints of coconut , ginger and white pepper. The fruits are there also, a lovely melange that’s hard to pinpoint. all in all very fruity and spiced.

Finish : Smooth, long and fruity. Nice.

As this was a twitter tasting, i took a wee movie clip of myself sitting in my kitchen and swirling and nosing this lovely dram. so here you go :

You feel like you have in your mouth the fruit in alcohol. The palate is a whole in the fruit section: vanilla coating the tongue. juice concentrate and sweetened lime, kumquat and orange peel, rich notes of barley and a hint of pepper on the finish

  8. Malt Hans scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Malty and fruity aroma, apple pie, pear, vanilla, honeydew melon, cashew

nuts, dry hay and cloves. Vanilla sweet taste, black pepper, lemon,

green apples, floral honey, banana, rhubarb jam and blackcurrants.

Medium long, sweet and spicy end.

After experiencing the 1997 version, I was slightly disappointed (I awarded 87 points), I can not make a direct comparison at the moment, I would be curious about confronting both of them, but I have a good memory for the flavors and fragrances, so I'm not misinforming here.
The first impression after opening the bottle was a disappointment, but after repeated refreshments the impression improved, we probably found our way with this version, but it is far away to ecstasy.
    • Nose
Pineapple compote, no bananas, vanilla. In the second wave, buttermilk combined with malt.
It seems less pronounced and less creepy than 1997, Glencairn needs to be more searching, breaking your nose deeper into the glass, but fortunately you can find ...
    • Taste
Sweetness with spiciness is blended in taste, all rounded with buttermilk, and unexpectedly, whet and warmth come in upon the swallow.
    • Finish
      The spit is bitterly bitter.

The 2000 vintage of Balblair is intended to replace the well-regarded

1997 variant. Matured in first-fill American oak, this very drinkable

expression represents good value for the money. A pretty peach and

pineapple nose, with coconut and honeyed vanilla. Toasted marshmallows

with time. Relatively light-bodied, sweet, with lively spice, ginger,

and youthful oak on the relatively complex palate. Fudge in the finish,

and a contrasting hint of dark chocolate at the last.
