  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Okay, a final Midleton Very Rare for today. Strange to see that this widely available bottle - bottled more than a decade ago - doesn't have much rates let alone any proper tasting note. Maybe that's the problem with MVR...
    • Nose
Restrained nose of cooked apples and rhubarb. Followed by hints of cake mix and honey-clover. Some floral oak shavings and a hint of wood polish. At the background oily notes and cereal mash which represent the pot still part in this whiskey.
    • Taste
Cedar wood intermingled with treacle and toffee. Chamomile tea and aniseed. After a while, there's bitter-sweetness grapefruit and candied orange peel. Burnt caramel as well. Later on hints of dried apricot. Cinnamon. Hints of roasted almonds.
    • Finish
Not that long to be honest. White pepper and a little nutmeg. Mint at the end. Not overly complex, but a nice sippin' dram.

    Too light and pale.
