I was expecting more than what I had on my nose and tongue.
For me, this whisky is too bitter. The minimum amount of fruit is also not entirely satisfactory for me. The only plus is the power of sweetness and chocolate flavors
    • Nose
      83 83
fresh, sweet, fruity, raisins, vanilla, shortbread cookies, ginger, freshly cut grass
    • Taste
      84 84
creamy, sweet, sugar syrup, milk fudge, dark chocolate, a bit of oak, delicate bitterness
    • Finish
      84 84
long, warming, sweet bitter, slightly spicy, chocolate end with notes of polished oak plank

A specific, very complex young whisky that makes you want to dig deep into it. I have ambivalent feelings towards him. On the one hand, the increased fortress undoubtedly decorates it. On the other hand, too much newmake influence is not good for an aged whisky. Of course, it is tasty and quite interesting, but questions remain ...

With the addition of water, the aroma is filled with malt tones, caramel sweetness appears on the palate, and the finish becomes less citrus. In general, the reduction is not good for him.
    • Nose
Intense and slightly harsh, with hints of red apple, pepper, juicy plum and chokeberry, with distinct newmake tones in depth.
    • Taste
Plum, grapefruit, orange, apple pits, white bread and a hint of menthol.
    • Finish
Medium length, tingling, with a lot of citrus and malt notes, with spices and coarse tannins.

Warm raspberry juice, mint, and lemon meringue smeared against slightly damp oak. Let this one sit or the oakiness may attack your tongue, and unpleasantly so.

Sherry. A bit perfumy. Changeable. Lacquer. Milk chocolate. Coconut. Some fresh fruit underneath. Sweet cream. Vanilla, caramel. Fruit-cream candies.

Sweet. Milk chocolate. Sherry Oloroso. Characteristic "dryness". Dried fruits. A pinch of spices. Ginger. Cinnamon. Caramel. Vanilla. Sweet cream. Cake cream. Pretty thick in the mouth. Cocoa.

Cocoa. Spices. Cinnamon. White pepper. Dessert chocolate. Maybe sweet wood. Now more milk chocolate. Caramel. Medium-long finish and maybe even long.

Macallan Classic Cut 2021 with 51%. All in all well drinkable, but there are better representatives here, such as the representative from 2018. If you look at the quality of the other standard bottlings, you can take this Classic Cut here with a clear conscience for 150 euros.
    • Nose

The color is yellow gold and the alcohol is initially quite present in the nose and cools a bit. Immediately you have aromas of vanilla, oranges, toffee as well as marzipan and preserved fruits. A note of ginger in the background underlines the rather fruity-sweet character. It opens with a little water and becomes a tad sweeter.
    • Taste
      87 87
On the tip of the tongue, the 51% are more cautious at the beginning. It takes a few moments for the alcohol to develop its power. The vanilla can be felt very clearly again, with hints of cinnamon. In the background, the wood note can be felt more and more clearly. Not old, but rather young wood. The second sip is much more "hot" on the tongue and is a surprise. Now there are significantly more ginger aromas to be heard, which is surprising since the first impression was more dominated by the sweetness.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is short to medium long. The sweetness does not last long and now gives way to slight bitter notes. Rather unspectacular.

Something unspectacular. Well, I couldn't (unfortunately) expect anything else. Sad to see what became of one of my favorite distilleries ...
