Delicious, tasty malt with beautiful contrasting flavors that harmonize well. But at this price does not bring any real added value.
    • Nose
      86 86
At the beginning light, not too dominant smoke, some campfire aroma, wood paired with old, musty leather. A more dominant sweetness and some sherry fruit follow. Plums, raisins and fresh red berries. Still has something of a slightly sour gravy, bacon, meaty.
All of this flashes up one at a time, after a while everything blends into a pretty good overall picture.
    • Taste
      86 86
Tingling and hot on the palate, distinct oak spice. As soon as the sharpness subsides, beautiful, dark-fruity berries, plums and some currants begin to spread, followed by a more present sweetness. In addition, I find a subtle sulphurous note in the background. Such a light matchstick aroma. For me it goes well with the smoke and the sweetness as it brings more contrast and variety.
With a little water this becomes even more effective.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium-long finish, fruity, slightly burnt caramel, smoke,

I am glad that I had the opportunity to drink this whisky, but it is something undrinkable for me. Pure category 84. Strong Strong sherry with smoke and cask strength. Actually, if someone gave it to me blindly, I might have the feeling that it's some kind of trick, if it's whisky at all. It's definitely the most smoky sherry whisky I've ever had. Student seal, chocolate, raisins, marzipan, and lots and lots of Oloroso sherry

First sweet attack, then very quickly very dry. Unfortunately too dry for me

drought remains. The finish is medium-long and unfortunately very one-dimensional.

I actually really like the nose. In the mouth, however, this appears inhomogeneous. The sherry just isn't well integrated. But that's not because of the sulphur. I have nothing against him. Good nose, but not taste.
    • Nose
Lots of smoked ham. Dates wrapped in bacon fresh from the charcoal grill. The fruits are red, but not too dark. More like redcurrants and raspberries. wood smoke. After the first sip, sulphurous undertones also in the mouth.
    • Taste
Smoked Pepper. Smoked mackerel with a hearty blend of spices. In the mouth, the sherry somehow doesn't fit in so well. Works detached from the whisky. I do not like it. Overall, the fruits appear darker on the nose. Rotten strawberries. Jostaberry. Sulphurous sherry notes.
    • Finish
Matches. Musty wine cellar. wood smoke.

In the aroma comes a nice smoke, fire with a little smoke, but not too intrusive. Underneath and next to it sherry sweetness and warm spices. The alcohol is not noticeable in the aroma.
The alcohol becomes immediately tingling and burning on the tongue. The whisky can tolerate water / needs water. A nice, dark-fruity sweetness is also evident in the taste, which unfortunately quickly gives way to sulfur / egg white notes / soap that is annoying to me, which does not disappear in the aftertaste and is a missing note above the whisky. The smoke is rather subtle in taste. Unfortunately, the soapy sulfur tarnishes the enjoyment ...
Even after a while this whisky doesn't get any better. Sulphurous missing notes that spoil the enjoyment!
No, I can't hide this sulfur note. The bottle has been open for a few months now, the grade is not disappearing and is not getting any better. It may be that the whisky would be delicious without this note - it cannot be faded out and overlays the other aromas. The whisky was bottled exclusively for Kirsch Import. It's a shame that the sensitivity to sulfur doesn't seem to be very pronounced there. Unfortunately not tasty for me, I don't want to award points for it.

The description of the whisky reveals its secret. It is the northernmost distillery on Islay, which suggests a smoky Bunnahabhain.
