    COLOR: light amber

    - yes it is the standard of the still ... and you can tell
also, not comparable to many very good ones
    Single cask bottlings
    - but still very drinkable in terms of taste
    - Unfortunately, this also confirms that it felt for me
after the name change from Glen Els to Elsburn
Somehow the quality has "suffered" a bit
(but may well be my personal feeling)
    • Nose
Mixture of different fruits, plum, plum, fruit compote
    • Taste
very strong start, apricot, plum, reminiscent of sweet jam
    • Finish
      long, fruity aromatic but also very powerful finish;
      medium-long fruity aftertaste

    Solider Standort der Hammerschmiede.

Very intense and a strong competition to often independently single cask bottled scotch. It can really put some scotch whiskies in their places and below €50 is really a killer price. This could be a cigar malt.

Mainly sherry and port notes, i.e. grapes, raisins and other dried and dark fruits. But there are also other notes. Vanilla, dark malt, toffee and also intense roast aromas, especially freshly roasted coffee. There is a hint of milk chocolate. It is mild and very intense. Nothing alcoholic.
    • Taste
      85 85
Sweet, dark and dried fruits, raisins, grapes, oak and roasted vanilla. Very intense.
    • Finish
      87 87
Sweet and rathe European oak, not bitter. The grapes and raisins remain. It is minimally smoky, but rather reminds me of new years eve fireworks and fresh cigar tobacco. The aftertone is really pleasant and long lasting.

  8. Issie did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    • Nose
directly a rather strange note, reminds me of a MOS Lomond that I had a short time ago, slightly dusty, mowed grass that was left lying and then it rained, old wood, some honey, dry grain, very diffuse also a few light fruits, some cardboard
    • Taste
I also get the cardboard in my mouth, a little honey, some green plants, caramel, a lot of seasoning with pepper on the back, quite a short finish

All in all, a very nice Christmas whisky that you can easily offer someone who has not started anything with this spirit up to now. That could change.
    • Nose
      85 85
Interesting scent - plum, quince, something like sweet soft apples and spices like anise and some cinnamon. Now I still have sweet almonds in my nose and with that the Christmassy impression is complete - very nice.
    • Taste
      84 84
In the mouth, it has a strong, spicy start with dry nutmeg. Less fruit, but more sweetness like caramel chocolate. And in addition, well-dosed tannins from the oak barrels. The mouth is very nicely filled. The alcohol is barely noticeable.
    • Finish
      83 83
In the finish, the oak takes over, but it remains spicy in a point that is neither bitter nor sweet, or a little bit of both. It's almost a shame that it only stays in the middle.

  10. Garfields scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

    Strong, beautiful color
very tasty and easy to drink as it has no cask strength
Fruity smell that makes you want to drink
This fruity sweetness dominates the taste and remains slightly in the aftertaste
