Whisky Reviews for Highland 1994 GlMo

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.65 points

  1. OJK scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

A warm and inviting nose with tropical fruits, candied citrus and vanilla cream, some soft vegetal notes and chalk balanced out by toffee and marzipan, some chocolate orange, sweet mint, elegant soft smoke, and honeyed candle wax.
On the palate a delicate oily texture delivers more of the tropical notes with pineapple, banana and coconut marzipan, before the balancing citrus, chalk and eucalyptus creep in. Subtle herbal smoke and honey on the finish, along with toffee, lemon cake and coconut cream.
A warm and tropical dram, with a particularly impressive nose and enough mineral and herbal depth to keep you on your toes, offering rewarding complexity. That said it's a softly spoken dram, so requires some time and patience with it. In terms of bourbon cask profiles, it's reminiscent (for me anyway) of some '88-'92 Littlemill, 90's Glenburgie, and the more fruity 90's Ben Nevis bottlings (and of course, clynelish ;)...)

  3. Ostap scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    08/31/2021:
The palette is not rich, but quite consistent. Clynelish is not guessed, unusually light "summer" profile. Unless wax is read ...
    • Nose
      87 87
Gentle, fruit basket (apples), mineral, wax, brackish, apple juice, flower, milk iris, dust, oak, calvados, dates, white grapes, dichlorvos, varnish. Light "summer" style.
    • Taste
      86 86
Sour, iris and vanilla, apples, white grapes, grassy, waxy, varnish, the degree is not felt.
    • Finish
      85 85
Vanilla, apples, white grapes, short, restrained, dry grass, wax, a little bitter over time, varnish.

2 drams were drunk with a difference of 2 days. During the second approach, it became easier. Fruity summer.

Atypical and somewhat controversial clynelish (?). Lots of herbs with bitterness. 22.5-22.5-22-22
