Whisky Reviews for Lochside 1981 TWA

- Another excellent TWA bottling, a nice fruity lochside.
Nice nose, caramel, orange marmalade, a little butter. fresh pineapple and lemon merangue pie (I think?)
Creamy and fruity on orange. peach and apricot but still the caramel with it.
Gets more substantial on the palate as time goes on and there is lovely spicy sweetness that compliments the fruit.
Medium length, creamy & sweet
- The Fino cask - quite rare in single malt whisky - gives this Lochside a very a-typical but special profile. I like it, just as my buddy Robert. The remaining of the bottle is yours, my friend.
Dusty fruitiness, I don't know how else to describe the nose. Candied apples and strawberries. Dried fruits of figs and dates. Olive oil (what Erik says). Sweet barley. Walnuts. Flowery notes as well. Interesting and not very typical Lochside.
Very buttery. Sweet oakiness but in auster way (do you know what I mean?). Gingerbread. Lemon peel. Goosberries. Herbal notes of chives and ginger. Cinnamon.
Medium long. Slightly peppery and becoming salty at the end.
- tasted with Aby, interesting cask
olive oil, marzipan, almond paste, grape fruits, herbs, citrus - lemon, strawberries and ginger
bitter fruits - grape fruits, saw dust, creamy, soft spices, orange and leather
rather short with vanilla, floral and citrus
- Needs some time and efforts to be discovered.
Fruity, but by far not as fruity as the Lochside 1981 Perfect Dram (48.6%) that I tasted immediately before. More on grassy and flowery notes plus walnuts. In addition I nose a little cinnamon and a whiff of smoke.
Warming, clean and pleasant. Green tea, tonic water and surprisingly spicy with pepper and ginger. Finally fruity notes come up - oranges and mangos. Very tasty indeed.
Long with spicy as well as fruity notes.
