Nose alone: great. Together with the taste, however, I get the impression that several aromas have not come together, so that each aroma runs its own program. Quite "hot" on the tongue.
    • Nose
      88 88
Velvety with almond milk, roasted orange peel, raisins, dates, figs. Milk chocolate, marzipan, slightly fleshy.
    • Taste
      85 85
Completely different from what the nose would suggest, namely fresh and mentholated, Amaretto, Kinder Em-eukal Bonbon. Peppermint alongside raisins pickled in sherry.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium length, lots of menthol, kirsch, a little biting.

Nose: fully aromatic, baked apple with brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon, plums, cloves, grapes, leather, some marzipan, tart notes, furniture polish, herbal notes

Palate: Full presence, creamy, nutty, baked apple with raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon, plums, milk chocolate, leather, cloves, spicy wood, herbal notes

Finish: medium to long, warm, baked apple with raisins and cinnamon, marzipan, plum, cloves, spicy wood, herbal notes

Rating: great thing with decent sherry notes, which bring along a nice sweetness as well as tart and spicy aspects. This results in an exciting play of aromas and a great development that ranges from baked apples, plums, nuts, tart notes, spices, leather and herbs. I think it's excellent, I'd like a few more drams from it to explore further.

    93/100 or 8/10

Wow is that good. Clean, intense sweet-fruity notes of sherry paired with bitter-tart, spicy oak - exactly my taste!
    • Nose
      91 91
intensive notes of sherry; dark fruity; red berry fruits; dark cherries; dark nut chocolate; Marzipan; noble spice notes; furniture polish; Tart, spicy old oak wood clearly present
    • Taste
      91 91
oily-creamy mouthfeel; full-bodied; sweet dark fruits; dark berries; cherries; dark chocolate; spice notes; In addition, there is an intensive tingling woody oak spice with pleasantly bitter-tart hints
    • Finish
      90 90
sweet-spicy; slightly peppery; delicate dark fruity; cherries; Bitter chocolate; Cinammon; some leather; but above all bitter-tart, spicy oak

  6. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Oak, dark fruits, dried fruits, nuts, marzipan, tobacco, cinnamon, nice balanced sherry

  7. Totoro scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      88 88
Heavy sherry, pretty sweet, with a creamy, fudgy, nutty character. Milk chocolate and cashews, red berry jams, ripe cherry, marzipan, cola, licorice, and some faintly musty oak. Some umami after a while in the glass. What I like most is a soft varnish / polish note that reminds me of old sherry-matured grains or good batches of GD 18 Allardice.
    • Taste
      85 85
Cherry coke, cherry-flavored herbal cough lozenges, pine needles, maraschino, amaretto, dark chocolate, oak spice. Not exactly a mellow fellow; quite punchy and rough-and-tumble. Somehow, the spirit and the sherry don't seem ideally integrated with each other. Water doesn't help much, either.
    • Finish
      85 85
Booze-soaked maraschino cherries with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Weirdly rum-like in its boozy pushiness. Tasty, but I find it a bit too hot and unmannered for a higher score.

Nutty, dried fruits, dates, toffee, old wooden cabinet, shoe polish, cocoa, nutmeg, little earthy, hints of leather, dark honey, dark berries, dark chocolate - not bad
    • Taste
      90 90
Oily, creamy, milk chocolate, toffee, hazelnut, macademia, acacia honey, good swetness, dried fruits, dates, fugs, nutmeg, cloves, cocoa, hints of leather, sherry wood - pretty good
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium long, warm, chocolaty, woody, spicy

    shop info:

"Alba Import asked both Donald and Andy in advance of their 10-year collaboration to choose an“ Exclusive for Germany ”barrel based on their personal preferences - and the dynamic duo delivered! Andy doesn't have a barrel Selected Speyside distillery, whose whisky was called Rolls Royce among the malts due to the aging in sherry barrels of the Rolls Royce and over which grass has recently been growing.
