And again such a great part Wow the 2nd evening with a whisky that I don't have in my glass every day, which is delicious again for me. Whisky barrel shower No. 19 from the Christmas calendar ???? awesome part. Nose alternating light and dark fruit but like being left to ferment with wet moist sparkling sweet yeast braid. What more do you want. Absolutely delicious and very sparkling the tastiest sparkling wine among whiskys
Greetings from Obstbolle with a thick, sweet, great-spicy, delicious caramel nose.
    Thank you very much

[November, 2021] Another "Secret Speyside" to stimulate my taste buds because they want to discover where it was distilled...

...and my best guess is Glen Grant, actually. This is rather strange as Glen Grant does not restrict the use of its name on independent bottlings, usually. So why did Marko not label it this way? Finally I do not care as this is excellent stuff anyway.
    • Nose
      89 89
The colour is chestnutoloroso sherry and the nose offers a flawless modern sherry profile which leaves enough space for the malt aromas to enfold. The malt is impressive but at the same time rather subtle with a significant floral-honeyed profile which excludes the usual suspects of "Secret Speyside" drams like Glenfarclas, Macallan or Glenrothes. The fruits are very shy except the ones that origin from the sherry maturations, so this distillery is rather tricky to identify.
    • Taste
      90 90
The taste is sweet on both the sherry wine and fine barley sugars and bitter with significant herbal, spicy and waxy impressions. Again, the malt-driven fruits are very shy but the sherry-induced ones are loud and impressive. The floral notes are clearly recognisable and if I take away the sherry flavours my taste buds signal a tasty old Glen Grant profile. Could this be? Usually Glen Grant allows IBs to use its name on their bottlings. But actually I have no other idea given these unique characteristics (and quality).
    • Finish
      90 90
The dram arrives warming and coating on the palate so the quality of the spirit was pretty good. No distracting bitter or drying moments during the initial mouthfeel. The finish is long and adds more waxy and tobacco flavours which counter the sweet sherry nicely. Again there are no distracting moments until the very end. Water turns both nose and taste smoother hence (even) more quaffable but I suggest to explore the dram first neat.

Just feel like writing quick notes, because I like this Secret Speyside so much ... and at first I don't care which distillery is behind it. A wonderful nose full of candy, dextrose, quince, grape jelly. Lots of oak, the age can already be felt in the nose. An almost beguiling scent of freshly squeezed grape juice, with a slight hint of lemon balm in the background. Fantastically creamy in the mouth, extremely expressive despite the almost 46%. first very sweet with a full load of glucose. Then finally the age prevails, the strong oak comes up nicely, chic hints of walnut and espresso and a tingling peppery note of ginger, which is ultimately also reflected in the finish: Here, too, sweetness and bitterness are nicely in harmony. I'm actually more than impressed. 91 pts
