    Peppery Shampoo

A few years ago Kenny MacDonald and his wife Viktorija founded the company Dram Mor. In the meantime, they already have quite a few bottlings on their resumé. This is one from 2021 of a Macduff 2008 that got a finish on a first fill bourbon cask. In this case very specifically a 1st Fill Buffalo Trace Bourbon Oak barrel (which actually means little, because far from exceptional).

Soft, pleasant nose that could blindly put me on the wrong track. I initially thought I had a grain in the glass, because I get a lot of notes of wood glue, pencil shavings and varnish. Only after a few moments is that supplemented with vanilla, almond shavings and caramel. Something fresh as mint.

Good body. It immediately tastes a bit sharp with again those notes of glue and something bitter like walnuts. Then it calms down a little and offers fresh notes of orchard fruit with a hint of peach, but also some mandarin. However, midpalate it starts flirting with quite some floral notes that are on the edge of soapy. That's not too good.

Especially in the finish, that soapy experience continues and it becomes just peppery shampoo.

The nose was interesting enough, but on the palate and especially in the finish, the floral, soapy notes were too much for me.

Related to Glen Moray, Glen Deveron, this blender has shares of Tullibardine and Deanston
    nose:
vanilla, fresh sweet almond, caramel, wood, glue, varnish
    stuffy:
spices, bitterness, a little rough at first, the caramelized glue still
it becomes smooth, fruity like a basket of fruit from the orchard, more on mandarin and poached peach filled with sugar, on marzipan, woody, a vegetal return on the sap of a flower stalk
    final:
on the same scents with the amplification of the woody bourbon side on spices, baked vanilla and lightly toasted caramel
