A slight whiff of peat that does not really fit this whisky. The first taste come across as heavy on alcohol, but later on the alcohol seems well integrated. Key tasting points for me are menthol, slightly peaty, lemongrass. Quite short in the aftertaste.

Too bad. This Glen Elgin is not my taste at all. It's a pity, especially since I've already been allowed to drink such good Glen Elgin whiskys. This variant is dominated by a strong wood tone. After that, we're dealing with rather bitter cabbage notes, kohlrabi?

If the Glen Elgin sits for a while and gets some air, it gets much better, less woody and bitter.

Nose: not heavy and only slightly fruity, overall very subtle but unusual. Medicinal, light wood smoke, dental office, prickly pear, persimmon, kiwi, cucumber, white peach, kalanchoe, tree bark. I would have guessed Tobermory here - or an Islay whisky where the smoke has clearly degraded with age. By the way, the alcohol is well integrated.

Palate: Slightly medicinal, slightly smoky, white peach, Charentais melon, Kalanchoe. Nice mouthfeel, looks very harmonious. Pretty sweet.

Finish: Medium length and balanced with white peach and a slightly medicinal note (wound plaster?)
