Whisky Reviews for Ben Nevis 2013 SV

- mainly alcoholic, both in the nose and in the taste
- Ben Nevis 2013 - 2021, 7 years, Signatory Vintage, 46% alc. Expansion: Bourbon Hogsheads 421 + 423
Nose: Stinging alcoholic, what's that? Then crumbly fruit, banana, some grain and hot spices. Maybe ginger, or just alcohol. Vanilla can be guessed at, but the barrels didn't give off much.
Palate: bitter and spicy, slightly oily. Grapefruit, banana and cold espresso, cocoa, indefinable sweetness. The alcohol is less present, but the bitterness kills everything.
Finish: Warm and oily, strong bitterness that lasts for a long time. A very unpleasant feeling in the mouth remains.
Conclusion: I give buy recommendations, sometimes I hold back and sometimes you just read my criticism in the conclusion. But this Ben Nevis is so underground bad, don't buy it! And if you have already done so, fill in the return slip directly. Alcoholic nose, everything else bitter inedible. 2021 the worst whisky I've tasted so far, maybe even the worst ever. Probably the attempt to make a good bottling out of two badly stored barrels. Even the “Dew of Ben Nevis” blend is miles superior to this bottling. Maybe someone wanted to be cheeky, I feel offended. 52/100 points (2021) - www.notesofmalt.com
- Compared to its predecessor 2011, this one is just alcoholic, meaningless, bitter and has the finish of water. It is a shame absolutely bad buy and cannot be compared with the excellent 2011 bottling.
