    N: Delicious squidgy-dry fruity malt.
T: A full, full full barley body with a squidgy-dry mouthfeel to boot.
F: There’s some herbal action after a lovely long sweet travel.
C: This will be one of the standout whiskies of of the show, and we’re only two in.

It is a Caperdonich in 1972! So I rather have high expectations, this is a decent aged Speyside whisky in the 70s , but not "amazing" in my humble opinion, therefore I will not follow the crazy price but rather choose something with a lower profile.

Woo-hooo! No wonder the 1972 Caperdonichs are renowned for their beauty.
    • Nose
An immediate delicious sweet, fresh apple, mango, pineapple and mild maple syrup arrival. Crisp and sweet citrus, a bit parfumy ala Chanel Egoiste/ Boss by Hugo Boss. One of the best opening-noses ever. Fresh plum, honey-y hints of oak, toffee and more of the best syrup.
    • Taste
Armagnac, rumraisin, dried date and fig. The alcohol is amazingly well integrated, sweet muesli. With water turns a bit pungent and salty for a while, alga and mussel. After this turns again sweeter, tropical fresh fruits, ultra clean and stunningly rich.
    • Finish
Long, delicately full malt, grainy and medium sweet.

A quick note made on 30-05-2015

A fruit explosion, sweet, pear drops, tropical spiced fruit, verry subtile woody notes.

    Tropical delight.

Caperdonich's from 1972 are probably the best whisky's bottled in the last decade. Who could have imagined that that in the late 1990's?
    • Nose
Yeah this is Caperdonich 1972! Massive tropical fruit. Pineapple, peaches and apricots. What else do you want more? Also polished oak, beeswax and some honey. Complex.
    • Taste
Sappy and juicy waxiness. Lots of fruity sweetness again. Lychees and mango. Bourbon style vanilla. Some spices of paprika and white pepper. Reminds me of rum in a way.
    • Finish
Long and warm. Liquorice. Gingery. Very well balanced.
