Taste of strong alcohol only. You drink it and you do feel cheap booz.

Lovely, simple and straightforward bourbon cask Islay nose…with plenty of citrus and vanilla, mingling with soft, warming peat. Definitely seems like a young Caol Ila profile to me. Much more sooty and ashy on the palate, again consistent with the CI profile. Short, ashy finish. Simple, peated pleasures for a great price (the 46% abv really helps).

    Advantage

The Cask Islay is known to actually be a Caol Ila. That also explains why I like it so much, I think. I previously tasted bottlings from 2010 and 2014. I liked both, especially when you look at the price tag. Not even 35 EUR.

Sweet on vanilla and citrus fruit, supported by bright maritime elements. Young, yes, but with Caol Ila I often find that an advantage. This is also the case here. Very accessible and fresh Ileach.

On the palate I get a good continuation of the nose, but with a soft smoke development, a pungent pepper and a sweet and sour touch of peat. Very tasty, very accessible, simply very good.

The finish is medium length, spicy, smoky, warm and sweet. Islay pur sang.

Ideal daily dram during the cold winter months. Thx, Manny, this one always tastes good!
