Whisky Reviews for Lindores Abbey Single Malt Scotch Whisky MCDXCIV

18 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.24 points

  1. ConvalRen scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

If you rated the 'young vegetable' 79, then I suggest you stick to your sherried Macallan 18.

Each to their own. I prefer calling it a young potato.

Actually a delicious distillate, but too young to be able to score any more points here. If you consider that not only bourbon but also sherry and wine barrels were used here, this bottling is even rather disappointing. It is too sharp and angular in the finish for me, which is why I cannot understand that sometimes 86 points are awarded here.

Nevertheless, I look forward to bottlings with a higher age or more barrel influence in the future.

  3. HammerHead scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Promising, though still somewhat one dimensional. The nose has most to offer, but it currently falls short on taste and especially the finish. An interesting one to try a few more years down the line.
    • Nose
      83 83
Grainy and quite heavy on a citrussy sourness. Lemon juice, lemon oil, unripe oranges, a savory and green spiciness with a slight note of vinegar (atjar), some sawdust in the background.
    • Taste
      81 81
A sweet and sour arrival, with more citrus like (unripe) lemon and lime, some creamy vanilla, a clear sharpness and slight bitterness in the deveopment.
    • Finish
      78 78
Short to medium: a quickly degrading citrus note, with sharp peppers and the bitterness remaining a bit longer.

Sorry, but if you give the young "vegetable" more than 80 points, you don't know how such whisky smells and checks!
Please stay on the ground with the reality with the reviews ...
It will certainly get better with age, but now it's just liquid wood with slight scorch marks

  5. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Ordinary 3 year old. This is a nice, typical Lowland distillate that simply needs something, maybe 3 to 5 years more is enough. I will watch it.
    • Nose
Light on the nose, sweetish, citrus-fruity, typical of Lowland, but also clearly young, as some new make-up spice can still be felt.
    • Taste
Warm in the mouth, slightly alcoholic. Tends to be sweet, some cookie dough, citrus peel and liquorice.
    • Finish
The finish is okay, sweet with a bit of citrus fruit, but here again new make notes and notes that are increasingly young towards the end.

    Meh.

  7. Lukas_Kiene scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

    Kind. But that's it, unfortunately.
On the nose, grainy and floral with a hint of citrus and herbs. Almost a little flat on the palate. And "new-make-heavy"? Perhaps you can say that. Unfortunately not particularly sparkling. But it will definitely be!

A promising newcomer. Well worth a bargain.
    • Nose
      84 84
Lemon, lime, orange, vanilla, beeswax, toffee.
    • Taste
      84 84
Youth is noticeable, but happy in a positive sense. Spicy including cloves, nutmeg and in the background a pepper, furthermore some vanilla.
    • Finish
      83 83
The pleasant aftertaste is short to medium long. Fruity, vanilla and slightly spicy.
