Loved the peatness level as well as the purity of this dram. Cotton is the main flavour I felt recurring at nose and mouth.
Good whiskies not need to mature that long.

After the pretty disgusting peated new make from Annandale (called "Rasqally Liquor"), i was curious on something a little bit more mature.
Obviously a first fill Bourbon Barrel, that left a lot of nice vanilla and spice. The nose is very "Islay-ish" in a good and rough way. A very medical type of Islay, like young and wild Laphroaig or Port Charlotte. Also very sweet.
On the palate it continues, what was in the nose. A burst of medical, smokey, salty and sweet aromas. It reminds me a little (!) on the "Peat in Progress Kilkerran" in terms of style, but more rough and wild. After a sip, the nose gets more ashy, which is quite remarkable. The finish is middle long, honey sweet and smoky.
A promising rough and wild spirit. I would be curious how that works with some sweet wine casks ;-)

Ashy, floral, sweet peat. Honey, chamomile, heather, ash, smoke. Very subtle orchard fruits.
    • Taste
      85 85
Barbecue smoke, medicinal and brackish peat, creamy honey, heather, indistinguishable subtle orchard fruit. Water brings out the fruit more.
    • Finish
      85 85
The peat suddenly becomes even more medicinal and brackish, more so than most Laphroaigs. Meanwhile, heather and creamy honey fight for their place. In the end the whisky seems inharmonious and simple... but pleasure can be found in that, too.

Wow, I am impressed. Would love to own a bottle, but 2 cl at a whisky fair will suffice I suppose as it's long sold out. Interesting young smoky Lowlander. Different peat than Islay and Highland malt altogether but has more to offer contrary to what the light color might suggest. Cask and/or distillate are very very promising. Different style but just as good as those first new batch of 6yo cask strength Port Charlottes were by Malts Of Scotland, for example. Try if you can, evermore so buy if you can for a reasonable price up to 100 EUR.
