The second release in the Warehouse 1 series following the Sauternes from last year. A shame they changed the design on the packaging but either way the liquid is still very good. Tokaji wine is an interesting one, we don't tend to see them used in whisky maturation often. I find it's imparted plenty of sweetness and spice to the whisky without any rich, dark notes. Value (£80) : 7/10
    • Nose
Initially light and sweet on the nose. Full of candied ginger, butterscotch and tinned peaches. A floral syrupy quality is present as well. I get some light mint notes and some cardamom spice. Fresh citrus, apples and ripe pineapples. Honey drizzled over a pecan pie. The cask influence is present but the spirit character still shines throughout. There is an element of maltiness to this, much like oat biscuits or bread.
    • Taste
Quite viscous in texture, again the palate is fresh and sweet with a good amount of spice now. That malty biscuit note is present again on the palate now with some marzipan or more honeyed almonds. Those tinned peaches and pineapples return, covered in sugar syrup. Loads of candied ginger bringing some heat that develops into a black pepper spice.
    • Finish
Here in the finish the sugars slowly dissipate. Then the ginger spice builds up before developing into drying tannins. That maltiness I found on the nose and palate still remains here.

Nice, sweet nose. The Tokaji brings out the beautiful, sweet notes of Glen Moray. But taste and finish rather below average. Nice nose, nothing else for me, unfortunately.
