      Color:
      Amber

      Nose:
Starts with slightly tart, juicy plum. Behind a dull dryness. Has something of greased leather, menthol and cherry cough drop. I'll stop...
With a little more time in the glass, the colleague appears more sour and drier. Reminds me of dried apple rings. The dry wood appears somewhat waxed. Bit of tobacco and musty hay. Behind it comes a mixture of light and dark berries to the fore. Somehow sweet - sour.
    • Taste
Soft, sweet start. Then immediately woody bitterness. Again the dull creamy. The taste is rather light fruity at first. Sprinkled some pineapple with cinnamon. A little coffee in the background.
On the second sip, the bitterness becomes more nutty. But the sweetness flashes more. cake batter and cake spices. In addition cherries and a rather bitter - sour orange note.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Creamy with a combination of woody bitterness and sweet - tart berry fruit flavor.
At the very end, a wonderful aroma of dry tobacco with a touch of mocha.

Pleasantly soft, harmonious blend without large corners and edges.
    Sweet and tasty.

Full of sherry aromas... At the beginning it is the dark tobacco, leather and chocolate aromas that predominate here. Fruit notes come later. Bananas, cherries, plums. Some dried fruit of figs and dates. Vanilla, caramel and malt add a nice sweetness. Looks a bit like fresh bread or cake batter. In the background some coffee and wild berry jam. Looks very harmonious and elegant. Alcohol is hardly noticeable in the nose.
    • Taste
      87 87
Soft, creamy sherry spreads in the mouth. Slightly spicy, slightly sparkling. Rather a bit cooling like a mint. Something reminiscent of tart grapefruit, gooseberries and currants. There are also nuts, chocolate and caramel candies. A very pleasant, warming mouthfeel develops.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long finish, sweet and fruity, more spiciness with dark chocolate with musty, earthy aromas. Some cinnamon and nuts round off the finish.

Overall, it's more delicate baroque music than rockabilly. "Volume up"? No, rather quieter, but successful. The label, on the other hand, doesn't fit at all - then I'd rather have naked nymphs... ;)
    • Nose
      88 88
Leather, fern, lots of wax and warm apricot crumble cake.
Immediately clear: this is a Macallan ;)
Very pleasant nose with sherry fruit and a balanced spicy note.
    • Taste
      88 88
Very smooth, a bit artisanal gummy bears, but above all compote fruit and forest soil: an earthy-spicy note in the forest bathing establishment. :)
Peppermint dragees, some dark chocolate - all pretty tasty.
    • Finish
      87 87
Quite a long finish, which quickly becomes milder (but it wasn't wild before), but very balanced between earthy and woody notes and the fruit wax compote. That leaves you wanting more!

The blend in the glass comes from Elixir Distillers and comes from the "The Whiskey Trail" series. 19 years old, bottled at 45% abv and from the Speyside region. The ripening in the sherry butt can already be guessed at by the oloroso color, the windows are rather narrow.
But it is a very pleasing dram that I always enjoy drinking. Uncomplicated, delicious and affordable at just under €90 in April 2022. I like him!
    • Nose

Sherry, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, rolled oats and some sandalwood. On the fruity side, ripe white currants, white cherries and some dried banana. Slightly moist tobacco leaves come to mind.
No alcohol stings here, everything seems very round and harmonious if you give the whiskey enough time to breathe.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sherry, peanuts, chocolate, caramel, some mint, some spice. A light fruit acid is there and reminds me of ripe gooseberries. The mouthfeel is pleasant, but you can certainly add a small splash of water to the dram at your discretion, but very carefully.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium to long. At the beginning still quite sharp, then a slight bitter almond, before chocolate and peanuts spread on the palate. Towards the end only the sweetness remains with a faint hint of peanuts and mint.

Obviously from the same 2001 Edrington Group batch as WB140000, WB181937 and WB184469, all top bfyb, quality wise all on one level, all four labeldesigns suck ass.
The Spheric Spirits is still the winner for me, 68.- € with an easy to find coupon including shipping in Germany is tough to beat for a very decent 19y.
