    solid, but overrated.
    why the hype?

Port Charlotte 10 years, 50% alc. Original bottling (2021). Ageing: American whisky casks and French wine casks

Nose: It smells like sea and ash, some campfire on the beach. Then tangerines and lime juice, completely removed mango and gooseberries. The maritime aromas are coming back, some smoked fish with lots of salt, thyme and a light pinch of colorful pepper. The Port Charlotte then makes a small twist and becomes creamy and sweet, reminiscent of Crema Catalana and fudge.

Palate: Begins creamy sweet, soft and yet strongly smoky, then builds up more intensely and becomes more powerful, and the Port Charlotte quickly increases in spiciness. Here, too, first citrus fruits and then some salty smoked fish, dry oak wood and lots of pepper. In addition, the whisky now has a medicinal effect, some iodine and bandages are added

Finish: Long, slightly sweet. Limes and sea salt, a touch of peach far away. The intense pepper note has withdrawn and only lingers in the background.

Conclusion: Here you get something for your money. This Port Charlotte has a lot of stories to tell, it is complex and loves surprises, but it remains a very pleasant fellow. Really worth recommending. 87/100 points (2022)

Another good whisky from the Bruichladdich distillery. As for me, a must-have item in the decalogue of smoky whisky for beginner gourmets of the Islay region.
Alcohol very well hidden, strongly fruity accents and delicate bitterness, peppery spices that are not dominant, but give the shape and taste of this whisky.

smoky, peat, fire, very fruity, apples, cherries, a lot of vanilla, cream butter, slightly oak end
    • Taste
      85 85
sweet, very smoky with red fruit, currant, apple, cherry, then delicate oak bitterness with a honey accent and a varnished board.
    • Finish
      84 84
medium long, quite sweet with dominance of oak gentian, smoky end, ash from the fire with apples and pine needles and a little salt
